Great lamp! Puts out a good, strong, even light. The base is heavy enough to support the arm in all configurations. By the way, for those who say the arm doesn't secure: there is a screw and washer in the bottom of the arm that you remove, then reattach with the arm in the base. They even include a little baggy taped to the arm with spares. I replaced my previous desk lamp with this one, because I needed a long armature - a smaller lamp tended to cut across my field of vision when people sat across from me at my desk. This one fit the bill perfectly. It's completely above my field of vision when we're all seated. This one also pivots easily if there's still a problem. The arm holds in any position you put it. I noticed the little arm extension coming off the head of the lamp; those usually exist if the head is too hot to touch, so I was concerned - no problem. The head is barely even warm. I think it's primarily to keep your hand clear of the on/off sensor when you're moving the light. Nice touch. The light is very even with no hot (or bright spots). It's a very "soft" light, which minimizes shadows and glare. It has a very nice wide area of coverage which makes an excellent work area on my desk. I've heard good things about the customer service, but can't comment on it - the lamp worked perfectly from the start, so no need! What could be improved? A couple of tiny items (not enough to affect my satisfaction): 1) the color is adjusted by having two banks of LEDs: one in the inner, orange-ish lens in the center of the light (you can see it in the photo), and another bank surrounding it. That way you have warm light, cool light, or a mix of the two. It's simple and elegant. I had another lamp where you could continuously adjust the color from completely warm to completely cool without any steps or presets. Something like that would be nice, but it's not a big deal. 2) (I'm a photographer, so I'm very aware of light/color) I would personally prefer if the warm light had a little less green tint and a little more red, warming it up just a bit. My two slight niggles will probably not be noticed by 90% or more of people, but I thought it would be good to document. I would totally recommend this lamp. I plan to get another for my home desk. While more expensive than the others the old adage applies: you get what you pay for. Read more

I’ve had this lamp for six months and I really like it. The reasons are: (1) I like the warmth of the low setting; (2) I like using the hand gesture to turn it on; (3) it doesn’t get hot (or even warm) like the tensor lamp it replaced; (4) it has good clearance, as I’ve put the base out of the way behind my computer monitor that’s 18” tall and the arm extends over the monitor and clears the top of the monitor by about 2”. If I had anything negative to say is that if you cut the power to it, unplug it, or your power goes off momentarily, the light resets itself to the brighter setting when you next turn it on. Keep this in mind if you plan to plug it into a switched outlet and you prefer the dimmer setting. Otherwise it remembers your brightness settings when you turn it off and on normally, using the hand gesture. The brighter setting is too bright for my taste, since I prefer dimmer, warmer lighting. So yes the lamp is a little expensive, but for me it really works well and has been worth the cost. Read more

I bought two of these lights, but one stopped working after the return window. Kudos to Customer service. The rep that I chatted with eventually arranged to let me return it after the window had expired! First, let me say that the light is absolutely beautiful. It has a heavy base, a long adjustable arm, and is very well-made. Turning the light on and off is accomplished by waving your hand over the sensor on the top of the light; no need to touch the light itself. The light can be cycled through three color temperatures. Cool white, warm white, and very warm white which is, in my opinion close to a candlelight. There is a touch sensor on the neck that controls the light color as well as the intensity of the light. So far the remaining light is working fine, and I still love it. Read more

This light makes me feel like a Jedi. It has quite a few brightness settings that will work for any occasion (mostly reading for me). Read more

I have a 32" monitor so I was looking for a lamp that was taller than my monitor, this one is. I also wanted something I could move around, if needed. This light is stand alone and easy to move. I also wanted the controls to be on the top where I can reach them, not on the cord or the base. I really did not care about being able to wave my hand over it to turn it on and off but after using the lamp for 2 or 3 months now I really like this feature. I do not change the lighting too often but it is really easy to do and easy to reach. The only thing that I wish was better is in order to move the light, not the stand but the light, you have to hold on to the base or the entire light will slide. This is not a big deal as I can reach the base easily and I would rather have this to stiff rather to to loose. Over all I really like this light and even though it is on the little more expensive side I think it is well worth the cost, I am planning on getting a second one so I can have one on both sides of my monitor. When first unpacking and plugging it in I was in a well lit room and I wondered if it would be bright enough. Turns out in a darkened room and in actual use it is sufficiently bright, even on my preferred warm setting, which is a little less bright than the other modes. Granted, it is not a 60watt equivalent…but any desk lamp with a 60 watt bulb and a dimmer ends up set at 25-35 watts, so this is sufficient for intended purposes. I do wish the lower arm angle could be set at a little greater angle for more reach, but that would also require a little heavier base. As it is the lamp is quite stable. Otherwise the adjustment capability is more than sufficient. I also like the Jedi motion sensor switch which I haven’t tripped accidentally as other reviewers have commented. It’s just cool. I hope this lamp lasts a good long time. The manufacturer actually offers an extended warranty which is easily completed and speaks volumes in relative comparison to other purchases. Read more
