Good player bad remote (like non functional)

RoboiiiFebruary 21, 2026✓ Verified purchase

Love the player but the remote completely failed after a day or so. Tried 3 sets of batteries and "reset" procedures online. Spoke to someone at the company who asked me to email so they could send a return label but got no response. Hoping I won't have to send the whole thing back and they can just make it right with a new remote. **Update** Company made right with new remote so all's good. Read more

Excellent Player

I had a Sony UBP X800 that would jam and freeze up operation. Every time I watched a movie I would become anxious as to whether or not I'd be able to finish watching. I finally decided to try this Panasonic player. I have never owned a Panasonic before (always thinking it was an inferior brand...boy was I wrong). I have owned this player for a couple of weeks now and have not had any issues; not one single freeze up whatsoever. The build quality is excellent; almost as good as the Oppo players I own (I have at least 5). Word of warning, the player does get a little warm after a couple of hours of play. The region free part works well and is easy to do (I could never figure out the feature on the Sony). The seller (220 electronics) put a piece of paper inside the box explaining how to manipulate the switch between regions which has worked flawlessly so far (many thanks to them). In my opinion this player is well worth the triple price of the Sony. Read more

Pleasantly surprised...and relieved

It's quite a machine. Both video and audio have been outstanding after 30 hours or so of use. This player was a step into the dark for me, but the results have justified the gamble, and my wife concurs. Up conversion on our collection of British movie DVDs is excellent, particularly the audio. Comprehension of some of the thicker dialects, which vaguely resemble spoken English, can be a challenge at times. And, of course, 4K/Ultra HD is spectacular. Our previous player and TV, nominally 4K, weren't in the same league. Setup couldn't have been simpler, with the caveat that time spent in researching the myriad ways this thing can configured is well spent. There's a wealth of information available online, very helpful for amateurs like me. Read more

Plays 4K well. I got the 9000 Region Free Panasonic and have been happy with it. It may not say OPPO on it however, I am very pleased with the construction and use of this machine. Read more

A High Tech, Expensive White Elephant

AndAnotherThingFebruary 4, 2022✓ Verified purchase

It’s now May. I ordered this machine from 220 Electronics through Amazon back in January, It didn’t get serious use until recently when I noticed that it failed to track DVD’s and CD’s that my other machines, ranging from a top-of-the-line Oppo down to a Pioneer eternal blu-ray drive for my computer, tracked flawlessly. 220 Electronics has been terrific to deal with. Even though they could not duplicate my tracking problems with the disc I sent them (as it turns out, neither could I), they sent me a replacement. Same exact problem. While trying to resolve the problem, I purchased the non-multi regional version of this model from another dealer — this time with a four year warranty, just in case. Well, it turns out that this unit has exactly the same tracking problems. So now I’ve sampled three different units of this model. ALL of them failed to track discs — DVD’s and CD’s — that my other machines tracked with no problem. I think I can say with some authority that this unit tracks far worse not only than more expensive, high-end models, but also a $250 Sony UBP-X700/M as well as a $140 (at the time I bought it) Pioneer Electronics USA Slim External Blu-Ray Writer (BDR-XU03) I’ve returned the unit to the other dealer and expect to trade in the second unit that 220 Electronics for something a bit more reliable. So far, they have been great to deal with. They have gone above and beyond. I’ll post the final resolution of all this when I’ve closed the deal with 220 Electronics, but I wanted to post this thorn among the rosy reviews posted as a caveat as soon as possible. An expensive disappointment. Read more

Fantastic Video Quality; Video/Audio Syncing Issues

TomMarch 17, 2026✓ Verified purchase

3/17 Update: I received the Panasonic DP-UB9000 two days ago. Overall the player performs well so far, and the 4K video quality is amazing, just like I've read about in many reviews. However, with this unit, I noticed a syncing issue between the video and audio with UltraHD and regular Blu-ray discs. In both cases, the video lags consistently and continuously about half a second. It's particularly noticeable when the video shows a person speaking, as you clearly can see the individual's lips move after the audio. This makes it difficult to watch, as the lips never match the what's being said exactly. When testing this functionality with a DVD, it does not happen, which leads me to believe it's only an issue with UltraHD and regular Blu-ray discs. So far, I've tested this issue with a few different discs of each type (i.e., 4K UltraHD Blu-ray, standard Blu-ray, and DVD) and will continue to do so. My current rating is two stars, as I really cannot enjoy watching videos on a player where the video and audio are out of sync. I will update the rating up or down depending on the resolution of this issue. I've reached out to DVD Blu-ray World (the seller) and will update my review after I've gotten a response. Read more
