Excellent Versatile DVD Player w/ Great Acoustics

PSoJanuary 12, 2003✓ Verified purchase

I bought this DVD player b/c of 2 reasons, it could read just about any format...and it also had an output for a digital optical cable (TOSLink connection). My home theater system receiver also has a digital optical input for my dvd player. Once I connected this dvd player to the system with a fiber optical cable, the quality of the sound and the surround effect coming out of the home theater system increased dramatically! The audio quality coming from this dvd player is spectacular...even when I play plain old cd's on it. The video quality is fine but I do notice that it has the typical dvd player "slight pause" on some scenes. This is typical of dvd players but it does seem to occur less frequently with this dvd player vs. my old Toshiba dvd player. I also like the fact that this unit is not as deep as my old Toshiba. It seems like these dvd players are getting more compact these days. I have read some negatives about the remote control...I don't really have any problems with the remote control at all. For this price and a rebate, it is hardly something to complain about. This player is really a great value! Read more

Great DVD player

--December 10, 2007✓ Verified purchase

I purchased my DVD player in November of 2002. Five years later it still works great. It plays every type of disc I have ever inserted in it, DVDs, CDs, MP3s. My grandmother had Panasonic TVs that lasted over 20 years. Panasonic is the best electronics brand I know, and my DVD player shows it, they are built to last. It's wonderful! Read more

A good unit with a few flaws

"jbrianwhite"February 5, 2003✓ Verified purchase

I bought this unit for several reasons. Design, functions, capabilities, and cost. I spent alot of time checking several units and settled on this unit. My complaints after owning it for roughly 2 weeks come down to two main things: the unit makes alot of noise which is not a problem when the sound system is turned up. The second complaint refers to the ejection unit which is incredibly slow to open. You get a fairly good unit for the cost but don't expect perfection. Read more

Do Not Buy Panasonic

Andrew D.November 5, 2003✓ Verified purchase

I bought the DVD-RV32K player from Panasonic. I purchased it because I had been reading about problems with other brands, and people were saying good things about this player. It was more expensive, but if it was reliable, it was worth it. Now 10 months into owning it, with only light usage, it suddenly stopped working and gave me the infamous H07 error. Which means the motor died on the unit. The motor, of all things. The DVD's no longer spin at all. From what I've been reading, I guess I should consider myself lucky that it lasted this long. If you search the web you will find tons of complaints about Panasonic and the H07/H02 errors. I emailed customer support, and after 2 weeks had received no response from them at all. When I called, they wanted $70 to repair it, just for labor (it was under warranty for parts still). They refused to even listen to my arguments, and just told me to call the factory. No way am I paying $70 to fix this piece of junk. The only time I've ever had a problem with a piece of A/V equipment was when I bought a Technics reciever, which died 1 month out of warranty. Guess what? Technics and Panasonic are one in the same. I will never, ever buy a Panasonic product again. Amazon, you really should consider not selling their products, as Panasonic's lack of quality and service taints you. Read more

I got his as a gift for my parents and found it easy to use and very nice. I don't know about the long haul, but I would recommend this if only because of past Panasonic purchases. Read more

Add us to the list of H07 errors

Suz MillerDecember 28, 2004✓ Verified purchase

Bought this DVD player about 15 months ago. Last night got the H07 error and will be looking for a new DVD player - and not a Panasonic. For some reason Consumer Reports isn't saying much about this problem but don't be fooled. Read more
