Perfume is different to everyone, here's my best shot at explaining the smell. It's fruity and round to start, definitely not the kind of fruity you get when you're shopping for tweens, but not fruity in a way that's dry or powdery like you can sometimes get with fruity or florals. Comfortably in the middle. You get the pear and a bit of apple first. It's got a musk but not in a warm cinnamon vanilla way, more like. Oh! this is Layered. Capital L. It smells a bit like Lush (the bath store) perfumes, a bit rosy and it feels like if you ate a juicy pear in the spring in the sunshine. Not overwhelming. Bottle is gorgeous. Me and my best friend both love it and approve. This is a perfume that could do well spring or summer, maybe even autumn if you warm it up a little more. It is a comfortable scent level, one spritz is not too little or overpowering. Definitely a warm pear as the most noticeable note. Not spiced, not sweet, not powdery. This perfume was unfortunately not the realistic juicy pear that I was hoping for. Instead, it is a green candy / synthetic pear and apple type of scent. It is not bad by any means, but I would have preferred a more realistic scent. Sweet and fresh, smells like a shampoo. Would probably be inoffensive at the office etc. The bottle is substantial. I feel like this scent leans heavily feminine, but of course anyone can wear whatever perfume they want. Does not perform super well. The longevity is about 3-ish hours, but on clothes it can last an entire day if sprayed generously. I have had my bottle for almost a year, and the performance has not gotten any better. Upon opening, the box seemed to be in good condition, but I could smell the fragrance strongly through it which had me worried it was leaking. As soon as I pulled it out of the box, the metallic "Pear Potion" plate from the bottle fell to the floor, momentarily distracting me from the fact that my hands were now covered in green goo. At first I thought it was leaking, but on further inspection I realized something must have gone seriously wrong with the manufacturing of this product because it was actually the green coating on the bottle dissolving and peeling off into a slime. I took the cap off, which was also beginning dissolve around the plastic base, and the atomizer was covered in something reminiscent of a colonized petri dish or mold. Now I've been afraid to even try spraying this, so maybe it's a better, more complex fragrance when you spray it, but the odor emanating from the box isn't that pleasant. It reminds me of something I would have gotten from the dollar store as a tween. However, when I smell the atomizer, I do get a hint of that candied apple and caramel others mention. Buy at your own risk. Perhaps there was just a bad batch that went out as others seem to have good bottles that aren't falling apart and melting into green slime, but I do think there's probably better fragrances to get at this price point.
