Having never smelled the original and not caring about name brands, I do have some thoughts on this cologne. The scent starts out with a bit of a strong alcohol scent that dies down as it dries. It smells clean and nice. I would describe it as a light scent that could be dressed up or down but gives more of a classy scent like that inside a suit store rather than a teen axe smell inside of a mall. This is a good smell for a variety of ages. An older gentleman or a young man could wear it. I wouldn't describe it as rugged or warm. However I think it lends itself to multiple uses, I think you could wear this cologne to a wedding, a funeral, a party, work, or even just out shopping or dining. Its not obnoxious or disrespectful.
