I use this vest for my son who has autism. Instead of buying an expensive (special needs) heavy vest I decided to try this one. It works perfectly. I can make it as light or as heavy as my son needs at the moment. The Velcro straps are very comfortable and easy to adjust. It did take my son a little coaching to put this weighted vest on since he has to put it over his head instead of just putting it on like a jacket. But after 2 or 3 times he got the hang of it and instead of paying 150 dollars or even more for a special needs vest this safes me a lot off money. It is easy to clean as long as you don't forget to remove all the weights. The Velcro is wide and very strong and can be adjusted to fit many different sizes. The shoulder straps are nice wide, This makes the vest very comfortable to wear, I definitely recommend you to try this vest. If it is to build up your muscles or your speed or as a calming vest for children and adults with autism or special needs. Read more
When I was looking for a weighted vest to use for bodyweight exercises, I was thinking of getting a larger vest (somewhere in 40-60lb range). I had never used a weighted vest before and I didn't 20 lbs was going to be enough of a challenge. Boy was I wrong. My body was just not used to the extra weight, so I figured I minus well start with the 20lb and it was a good idea that I did. It took me a while to get the body adjusted to the extra weight. I initially started doing pull ups, push ups, sit ups, squats,etc...at the full 20 lbs and it was a major struggle (now I do it with ease). At the beginning, it was really difficult, so if you are new to weighted vest, start with a 1lb and just slowly work yourself up to it. After about 3 months, I was doing the exercises on the full 20lb vest, and the results have been great. Never been leaner or more muscular in my life just by doing body weight exercises. The vest itself is very well made. Strong fabric. The weights are easy to get in and out of the slots. It's comfortable to put on. The straps don't bother the shoulders like some other weighted vests that I've tried since then do. Easy to take off. The velcro stays on nice and tight. Excellent and useful product. Read more
5/5/25 , several months ago: This is a well designed product. Fit very well. Weights are adjustable! holds well to my body when walking or jogging. Have done a little calisthetics. The weight units are good increments and soft little bags full of something like sand. So far they have held well. However, I can see how them might start to leak as the little bag that hold the 'sand' and the stiches appear flimsy. Read more
Great vest at a great price. 20lbs is perfect for adding some strain to your walks/hikes to build endurance without it getting uncomfortably heavy. The vest forms to your body well, so you don't get a lot of "bounce" as you walk. It positions the weight up high on your chest and the strap secures it well (some others I've had in the past had the weight more over your mid-section and the straps rode up as you walked, allowing the weights to swing out and back with your stride, slapping you in the gut over and over). One review stated the weights don't stay in the pockets well because the pockets are too short - that person is loading the vest incorrectly - there is a 2/3-length bottom pocket the weights go into, then a 1/3-length top section that then pulls over the top of the weight, so the weights are 100% secure. They will not fall out when you are putting the vest on or taking it off. Top quality and comfortable design. Read more
Only put three stars because the price dropped immediately after I purchased. Not very cool. The vest fits great, weight distribution feels good. Its velcro belt is sturdy and works well. While running there is a bit of movement around the shoulders and chest but nothing constricting. Very good exercise vest I would Highly recommend. When purchasing, be sure to check the price to ensure you are not paying for an unnecessary rate increase. Read more
So I've only owned this a couple of days, and I will update my review if I have any major problems. I'm 5'11" and about 250lbs. This vest fits me very well, with room to expand (although I hope not!) and also plenty of room to tighten it down. The 40lbs of additional weight is very significant and will up the ante of any workout you intend to do. It fits well enough for walking, for strength exercises, and for general movement. I would not recommend this for running or jogging though, as it will likely bounce around too much to make the run effective. My primary use is on a stair exercise routine and pushups, which it works well with. Don't underestimate 40lbs of resistance, this vest is heavy. I hope that the build quality holds up over time with such weight on the stitching. If it fails in under a year, I'll be disappointed and will update this review. If I get more than that out of it, at this price point, I'll still be happy with the product. Read more
