I have a 65 Chevelle that is drive extremely often with a stock 283 and Pertronix ignition. This car comes factory with a coil resister wire built into the harness therefore, the original coil is an "external resistor required" coil. The resistor wire is no longer needed with the Pertronix ignition but i have been running this electronic ignition with the resistor wire intact and a factory 3OHM external resistor required coil for 10 + years. I have chosen to replace my factory 3OHM coil for this Pertronix 1.5OHM coil to allow a little more current flow to my Pertronix ignition. In the event the Pertronix Eletronic ignition were to fail, I could re install my points without a worry because my resistor wire is still intact and this high flow coil is not going to burn my points in one trip home.. for each and every day that the electronic system doesn't fail, then ill be feeding my Pertronix electronic ignition with a slight bit more power which is creating a stronger spark. My findings on the product quality and size, its slightly shorter and slightly larger in diameter than a factory 65 Chevelle coil. It still fit in the factory coil bracket, but it needed to be worked in there because it was tight. It came with nice new terminal post nuts and the main coil wire clipped in there snug.
