New improved needles!

New improved needles! I just purchased these again (I buy them every month for my cat); I noticed that the tips of the syringes are made different now. Also the barrel is thicker with much bolder markings. It's still the same size and measurements with the very thin short needle. But now it doesn't draw in a lot of air bubbles like it use to. Now very few air bubbles. I love it! Now I can give my cat a shot and I don't have to sit there forever trying to get out all the bubbles! The needle is the same and doesn't hurt the cat when I give him an injection. Good job Advocate Pet Products! Read more

More comfortable for my cat

I have to give these a five because they are clearly more comfortable for the cat. Although the difference in the size of needles from my previous needles seems so incremental, it does seem to matter to her. The needle goes in more easily for my cat who has tough skin and has been going through diabetes for four years. It is a little more difficult to read the markings than what I was used to, especially because my cat gets .25u more or less sometimes and then it gets tough to be accurate. Also, you have to be a little more (slightly more) careful not to bend the needle when poking through the cap to draw up insulin. Having said that, I feel that the quality of these needles/syringes is excellent and I don't have any concerns. Overall, if my cat is happier about getting her insulin, then I am happy. Read more

Highly recommended

Highly recommended for small pets. I have a pinscher and she doesn’t feel it. The injections that the veterinarian sold us had longer needles and we suffered a lot every time we had to inject her; it was traumatic. However, since we switched to these injections, giving her insulin is much easier. Read more

Needs A Delicate Hand

My cat was recently diagnosed with diabetes. The standard needles they gave me were very long, 12.9 mm So I was looking for some that were shorter and found these. I thought it was a benefit that they were a higher gauge meaning thinner. Really hated the idea of poking my cat twice a day and thought these would be gentler although he didn't seem to mind the standard but I did. First time I used to it was great but learned that they are very delicate. They bend very easily and have destroyed quite a few. If you don't get it in the vial dead center, they will bend. If you Don't get the cap back on straight, they bend. If you don't take the cap straight off, they bend. Any bend renders them useless. I'm still on the fence whether I will continue to purchase these. I just know that my husband's hands will not be able to work these well without frustration. The upside is the syringe has half markings which is helpful for my cat that only needs 1.5 Read more

Best needle for me

I will start this review by saying I am not a vet. I just know what works for me and my dog. The picture includes a standard U40 syringe (12 units) (pictured below) & this U40 syringe (20 unit) (above). This syringe is great. The standard U40 is long…. This can poke through skin folds and leave his meds on his fur and not inside him. This is a U40 syringe! Some reviews say otherwise. The markings are different because it is a 20 unit version instead of the standard 12 unit. Ask your vet to show you the proper dosage on this needle but one dash on the number side of the needle is one unit. This dash on the other side is a half unit. Pretty easy. Please consult your vet. I don’t want sick doggies on my head. The needles are smaller and shorter so be careful not to bend them inserting the into the meds bottle and you should have no problems. I hope this helps you. It helped me to make sure my dog got his insulin more consistently by stopping the poke through. It seems to hurt him less too. Read more

Tiny Needle is Great for Cats!

I use these for SubQ B12 injections for my cat. They work great and the needles are so tiny that he doesn't even notice when they're injected under his scruff. The needles do bend because they're so fine, but I haven't been worried they will break off. Read more

Know the Guage you need

My dog was diagnosed as diabetic in March. Being new to the injection scene I knew nothing about needle size and originally ordered the 29 Guage needles for my Labrador mix based on the verbiage with the products. I learned quickly the larger the guage the thinner and shorter the needle. Using the 29 guage was traumatic for both of us, many times he’d squiggle and I’d have to reinject. I replaced them with 31 Guage and we’re both much happier. I’ve noticed the suction (pulling in the Vetsulin) is stronger in the 31and the fluid moves a bit more slowly through the syringe (smaller needle, smaller opening). These needles seem to be tolerably comfortable for my fur baby. On another note, contact with the manufacturer hoping to exchange still wrapped/sealed/unused 29 Guage for 31 Guage met with negative results which was disappointing. Read more
