Alarm clocks are awful these days. But this one is exactly how they need to be built. Is it perfect no? But under the circumstances of options out there it’s perfect for me. Large screen but not gigantic (I mean who wants a ginormous alarm clock staring them in the face all night!? This is easy to set (just read the directions), has the dimmer option, radio station option which I love waking up to country. It doesn’t rely on my phone. It’s not tiny, I can see it over my pillows. Sleek. Only thing that’s so dumb about it is how the radio increases in volume as it goes off. However it worked one am so I guess I like it now! This clock/radio is compact easy to read but time-consuming to set up with only vague pictures to determine how to set the time, alarms, and on//off alarms. Otherwise, it works well. Read more
After 30 years my clock radio died and I needed a new one. I tried a couple with little success until I got this one. I read some of the reviews before I purchased it and didn't have any of the problems others did. I did find it useful, however, to go online and read and better understand the directions. I like the fact that it wakes me with a soft beep or I can have a loud radio, depending on my mood. It has large green time numbers and that's a good think since I'm blind without my glasses. Junk. Phillips used to make really good alarm clocks. I had a great sounding great working one with a cd player years ago. When that one gave up the ghost I bought a Phillips radio alarm clock with an ipod dock. They both worked and sounded great. When the second finally quit on me after over 10 years I searched for a replacement. Unfortunately the world of clock radios had changed and quality is now nonexistent. This is the cheapest most miserable piece of junk imaginable. Difficult to program, cheap, really cheap plastic, and the back up battery function doesn't do anything at all. good clock , easy to read but surprised to find there were no instruction included with the clock on how to program /or use the clock and alarm .... you have to register the clock on the internet then go to the operating instruction write up to find out how to use the alarm and set the clock ........guess that's the way an international company like philips does things...took several hrs to finally get the thing working and programed ....kind d complicated for an alarm clock...... bet a timex alarm would have been easier to set up... ..... . This alarm clock was purchased to replace iHome that had an LCD panel that lasted less than 2 years. It was annoying too bright. Therefore, I shopped around a lot and found this one to meet all of my needs: 2 alarms, dimmable LCD, FM radio, slow-rise alarm (gentle awake), and battery backup. On the surface, it did everything precisely as advertised. Very happy at the onset. However, my wife turned off my alarm clock in our bedroom and I later found that I was missing around an hour when I took a shower. This happened over 4 times in a single week. Therefore, I asked my wife to not touch the clock at all. This "fixed" the issue as I pressed the correct button. However, a few days later I too hit the wrong button. This is a poor-quality design as even my 30-year-old Sony Dream Machine alarm clock never would have done this as to change the time you must hold the "clock/time" button while also pressing other buttons to change time. As such, hitting a button adjacent to "off" to turn off alarm -- which changes time -- is far too annoying, and worse of all makes you start your day off late and therefore on the wrong foot. Therefore, I had no other choice but to return this alarm due to poor design of its usage. Phillips got everything else right, but this just wouldn't work for me. Read more
Not sure how many people still use digital alarm clocks but as an old man born in the 1900s I still like to be able to glance at my nightstand for a quick time check. The display is as standard 7-segment with 3 brightness settings controlled by the snooze button. It can be programmed with 2 alarms that can sound off with either the radio or standard alarm. The radio works ok for what it is, I think I'm getting a lot of interference so it might work best if you have it near a window. Overall 9/10 Read more
Really like design of this clock radio with all controls on top of unit. Unfortunately the Time Set does not work First one ordered was returned for refund. Its Time set did not work. Ordered another of the same model but its Time Set did not work either. Philips has a good reputation for quality but not in this case. Correction to last review. Instructions should specify that the clear plastic film should be removed from the face of the clock before setting time and other functions. Then the display does show the correct time being set.
