poor quality. would not work more times that it would work. Most of the time would not load the dvd, despite repeated attempts, with DVDs that work on other DVD players. replacing it after two years. maybe watched 2 DVD's on it during the whole 2 years. waste of money. Read more
I finally regained Closed Captioning on my older DVD movies. Many DVD disks have subtitles for other languages but no English subtitles. The logic was that CC would be available for those desiring captions in English. Subtitles are built into the DVD/Blu Ray and are displayed via any hook-up (video out, component out or HDMI) Closed Captioning is a different technology and is intended to be decoded at all times but only visible when the viewer sets up the player and TV to display them. Blu Ray players do not decode Closed Captioning - most have made English subtitles available. Likewise, HDMI hook-ups do not transmit Closed Captioning even if the DVD player decodes it. If you are hearing impaired, you lose CC on your pre-Blu-Ray DVD collection and tear your hair out trying to figure out why. I purchased this DVD player and hooked it up with the three-plug (red, white and yellow) cord. Turned on Closed Captioning in the DVD player's set-up menu, set TV monitor Closed Captioning to CC! and voila - closed captioning works. As a hearing-impaired vet - I am absolutely thrilled to regain this. Read more

The first time I tried to play a dvd the player said "no disc found". Thinking the dvd was probably damaged, I tried another non-Netflix dvd I had, which worked fine. Still thinking that the Netflix disc was damaged, I sent it back. However, when I tried to play the next one I received, again, "no disc found". For those thinking "oh it must be formatted to PAL", no, I tried playing five other dvds I had at home, and no problems. Read more
finally got it working. It took 3 people to figure out that when the red light was off then the d_v_d was on. Seems to be working well now. the documentation that came with the DVD is minimal. Someone needs to read it and try to make this thing work who has no idea what they're doing Read more
