Game Changer! Smooth Skin That Actually Lasts

I was honestly a little scared to try an epilator for the first time. I had always shaved, but I was getting tired of how quickly the hair would grow back sometimes in just a day or two. I wanted something that was better for my skin and would last longer, so after seeing a lot of positive reviews about the Philips Epilator Series 8000, I decided to go for it. At first, it was a little painful, especially on more sensitive areas like the underarms. But I had already read that it would get easier, and it’s true after a few passes, I got used to it. The device is easy to handle, and I love that it comes with different attachments, which made the whole experience more comfortable. I used it on my underarms and legs, and I was genuinely shocked at how smooth my skin felt afterward. It’s been several days and there’s still no hair, which is something I’ve never experienced with shaving. I also didn’t get the usual irritation or razor bumps, which is a big win for me. What I loved: Hair-free for days (no stubble the next morning!) Less skin irritation than shaving Once you get used to it, it’s quick and easy Feels like an investment for long-term results What to expect: It can sting a bit the first few times, but it’s tolerable Works best on hair that’s not super short or super long Use it after a shower and exfoliate first, it helps! Final Thoughts: This epilator completely changed my hair removal routine. I never thought I’d find a product that gives me smooth skin for this long without the hassle of daily shaving. I 1000% recommend it for anyone tired of shaving or looking for a better long-term solution. It’s officially part of my routine forever! Read more

My new favorite!

As someone who has used the older version of the Philips 8000 wet / dry epilator for quite some time, I thought it might be useful to provide a comparison review. This updated version just came out and - at the time of this purchase - I couldn't find any reviews which reported the differences between the old and new version (It doesn't help that the old and new version both have the same name, either.). I loved the older version, but now believe that this one will quickly become my new favorite. Overall, this new version seems more ergonomic, balanced, and well-designed than it's predecessor. I'll start by mentioning my absolute favorite update to this new version: the removable / exchangeable end cover / guide (versus the old snap-on guide). The ability to remove the end cover appears to provide MUCH easier access if you happen to be a clean freak (like me) and tend to disassemble the tweezer heads for deep-cleaning. I'm not sure whether this was an intentional outcome of the new design (as the manufacturer tends to instruct users not to disassemble the tweezers for cleaning), however, I'm super excited that I won't feel like I'm trying to perform surgery on the thing or like I have to nearly break the device head just trying to get the tweezers out. The effectiveness of hair removal seems about the same as the old design, which - if you've never used it before - is phenomenal. It's like doing a hard wax, but picks up shorter hairs, doesn't remove your skin with the hair, and can be used more regularly. Basically, all the benefits of a wax (smoothness, duration of effect) without the potential for burns, skin removal, or need for long regrowth between sessions. As with any epilator, you can knick or pinch sensitive parts if skin is not pulled taut while epilating... so just make sure to stretch the skin of at-risk areas and you'll be fine. The lighting feature is way more useful than you think it will be and helps to visualize (and capture) hairs that you might not have otherwise seen. The pain factor is a lot like waxing, especially the first time you use it (when all hair growth cycles are likely to be present - i.e. more hair density). Unlike waxing, you can epilate between growth cycles (when hair is more sparse), so subsequent use tends to be much less painful. Make sure to exfoliate before and regularly after epilating, as this substantially decreases the likelihood of ingrown hairs as regrowth eventually occurs. This principle is true for any any hair removal method that pulls hair from the root, including other epilators and waxing. If you're currently waxing or using another method of hair removal that has quick grow-back, I would definitely recommend trying this... it will change your life! If you've used another epilator and were disappointed with the results, try this one before you give up. No more 5 o'clock shadows for the underarms, bikini zone, legs, etc! As an obvious FYI, this device is way too large for replacing hair-removal methods surrounding the eyebrows... that is, unless you goal is long term removal of the entire eyebrow. It will, however, pick up most vellus hairs of adequate length (i.e. peach-fuzz) in areas that aren't so small and precise - though, there can be a bit more likelihood for breakage (vs complete extraction) with such fine hairs (but not enough to really make it an issue). Either way, I would definitely recommend!! Read more

Don’t be afraid! Love it

My hairs are a little thin and the epilator doesn’t fully remove them. I have to help myself with some tweezers to get perfect results. Overall, it works really great! The noise is kinda loud it may be a little bit scary but the pain is really manageable! Read more

Total Newbie, Highly Recommend!

Why did I wait so long to try an epilator? I’m in love with this magical product. I had researched epilators for quite some time, my concern was the pain. Phillips Beauty 8000 always came up as one of the best epilators for beginners, low on pain, gentle on skin (esp. dry), and it came with multiple attachments for various areas of your body + an electric razor head! I’m a total newbie to all epilators, I was a bit anxious to use this for the 1st time. I followed the directions and turned the epilator on and began. I was pretty shocked it hardly hurt, I could feel it grab some hairs like a tweezer does. That feeling fades pretty quick as you get used to it. The device is pretty loud, wasn’t expecting that from the review videos I saw on here. This thing is a dream, I will never use creams, razors, waxing, etc…again. I used the device end of last week on my legs and armpits, I’m still smooth as silk. So nice not to have razor burns or cuts :) Highly recommend for beginners! Read more

Does the job. Easy to clean.

Well that hurt like a b*tch, but the pain doesn’t last. What does last, hopefully, is the hairlessness. I exfoliated as instructed and started right when I got out of the shower so my pores were open. I did my underarms first because, go big or stay home? I’m a masochist? Honestly I thought, “If I can epilate my underarm, I can easily do my legs.” I cussed through it, but I got through it. And now I don’t have to shave my underarms for quite a while. My lower legs are going to take a few rounds because the hairs grew at different rates. The unit is super easy to clean and charge. For my first epilator, I’m pretty happy with it. I almost bought the Braun (bc of best-of articles), but I’m glad I didn’t shell out that much money for my first try and this unit should last a good while. Read more
