Please bear in mind I've used it one time so far. I can already say it's the closest shave I've had from an electric shaver. It even does a good job on the neck hairs where foil shavers require more work and I still have a hard time getting them. First off I liked that it was made in the Netherlands. For a shaver of this price, that was a huge plus and gives me reason to hope it won't be in the landfill 6 months from now. The ergonomics are great it's very comfortable both shaving and holding. It is a little long if that is an issue for you. Very easy to clean just hold it under the running water and the top is easily opened. I did notice that instead of the usual plastic spring holding the 3 spinning heads you have a metal spring that really holds the heads in place. Maybe that's part of the reason why the shaver does such a good job. Very pleased I've had razors that cost 2 or 3 or more times this much that I didn't appreciate as much. Highly recommend! I had a Norelco 6800 and could not find replacement blades, so bought this shaver and extra blades now, so at least I'm good for a couple years!. This is slightly bigger than the 6800, however, it does fit in my hand fairly good. Shaves very nice too. It's easy to clean as it has a flip up for the blades and cleans by holding it under warm water. Price was right too. Read more

Cons: • It's an electric razor that, like most other electric razors, just doesn't give a great shave. • The clipper blade is pretty much useless. Pros: • Good value • Reputable manufacturer • Cutting heads are surely much better quality than the ones on less-expensive generic brands, they are high-precision parts • Easy to clean • Stays charged a long time. Other facts: • It really doesn't work that well wet. This razor design was invented before it was possible to make waterproof razors, and it seems designed to work best on stiff and dry stubble. But being waterproof nevertheless makes it easy to clean. • It doesn't work so great on thick or long stubble. You have to use it every day and if you miss some longer hairs on your neck or whatever (which you will), you'll have to remove them with an ordinary razor. • It yanks the hair out of your face and you REALLY need a good moisturizing balm afterwards. I have never tried a cheap rotary-head razor and never will. I recommend that you don't either. From what I've read, the more-expensive side-to-side cutter electric razors are better. I'll get one someday. And of course traditional wet razors give by far the best shave. But given my budget and low executive function, this one is perfectly adequate. Read more

The 5300 it giving me the smoothest and closest shave I have had from a electric razor. After a year struggling with the ARC- 65, I just gave up and for well less than half the price bought the 5300( $ 65) also from Amazon. I had read the reviews of the ARC both on the Net and Amazon and thought I would try a blade type instead of rotary. Well the reviews are very misleading and probably paid by Panasonic to sell their newest and most expensive shavers. What a better shave from the 5300. I wish I could get my money back for the ARC. The 5300 is very quiet, and smooth . Initially I thought it was not cutting, but then realized it was wonderful. It does its job in half the time and gives a much cleaner shave. They battery life between charges is much longer. Would buy again. Read more

I should have bought this, or a similar model, years ago. I've been using an old Norelco that I've had for at least 20 years. I guess that says something about longevity anyway. It had been pulling some hair instead of cutting and I'd been just living with it (for no good reason). So when I tried the new one, saying it was night and day is an understatement. It glides across my face. No pulled hairs, no irritated skin, a much closer shave, it's just great! I'm not big on leaving reviews, but this is one I had to do. Read more

I have sensitive skin and I was looking for a shaver that wouldn't give me irritation. I looked for a long time and gave up mid 2000's and just started using an Andis Outliner trimmer for my shaving. The outliner gives a pretty close trim (2 o'clock shadow) and I recommend it for anyone with easily irritated skin. After 15 years I decided to go on another hunt to see if shavers had improved over that time. I tried this shaver and found that they have not improved much since 2005. They irritate my skin with micro-cuts. I tried a braun 9310 and that one seemed to irritate my skin much less, but unfortunately it still misses hairs. I have to get out my outliner to catch them, LOL. BUT, there are some pros. The motor seemed quiet, maybe slower? The handle was ergonomic. And norelco is still using that easy flip up design for easy cleaning. If you don't have sensitive skin, this could be a good shaver, it catches everything better than my braun, it just seems like a slower shave. Read more
