Recently had a situation arise where I needed to switch from blade shaving to an electric razor. I have tried electric razors in the past, both the Braun foil type and old Norelco rotary styles. The foil razors never seemed to shave well and often gave me "razor burn" whereas the older Norelco sort of worked. Upon having to use electric razors now, I pulled out my old Norelco and found that it still ran, after many years, but did not provide a decent shave leading me to search for a new razor. The Norelco 9000 series seemed to be he best fit based on prior reviews and various YouTube videos viewed. The price did, scare me off as I could not imagine paying this much for an electric razor! But, I bit the the bullet and ordered it and figured I could try it and if it did not work well, I cold return it for credit. This has ended up being a keeper for me! First, I do not get razor burns with this unit. It shaves well, once you get the motions down correctly, of circular logic. It will give a reasonably close shave, for an electric razor, in under 3 minutes time. It is very easy to clean, proves a full charge in an hour, is comfortable and fits the hand well. The "floating heads" fit the contours of the face, neck and jawline well, allowing for a close shave. The razor is waterproof which allows wet shaving in the shower, if desired, but also makes for an easy cleanup after a shave. The cleaning stand / solution is an interesting concept, and I suppose it does add a method of weekly sanitation and cleanliness. There are only three negative comments I have about the razor: for he price, it should come with a charging block rather than having to buy one in order to charge he razor. Secondly, I was surprised that it still uses and old style charging plug, to the razor rather than a USB "C" style adapter. And thirdly, it still has the really, really, old style trimmer that rattles along th razor when in use. But, I still give this high marks and recommend it. I see this as a better buy than the really high end unit with all the gadgets and bells and whistles that you will probably end up not using or need, whereas this kit has all that you really need for a good shave. I did lots of research into the best shaver at the best price and this is where you end up. It feels great on the skin, no pulling, scratching or cutting. Gives you a good shave every time and quickly. It will be a noticeable step up in quality for you if you’ve always gone with budget electric shavers. The battery last like a month of a shaving every day for me which is wild. The self cleaning pod is just amazing - I put it in there after each shave and can already leave the house while it’s cleaning itself. My favourite part is that it does not drop any hairs in the sink, which makes this my wife’s favourite shaver too! Read more
Comfort shaving is good. The cleaner is a good feather. You have to pay particular attention to the upper lip just under the nose. Read more
This thing is Amazing! It of course is not as close as a razor but I love it! Quick and easy and it does shave closer than any electric razor I have ever used!!!! Read more
First off I've been using electric shaver for over 30 years. Most have been the Braun 9 series outside the cost I've always been pretty happy with the trim although they were single, foil head. Recently my old bran died out completely and I thought I'd save a few bucks by getting this Phillips wet and dry with three cutting heads. I'll start off by saying if you're patient, it will give you a decent shave. But it absolutely lacks any real shaving power. I'm kind of surprised because of all the reviews, but again I've been used to something a lot higher end. I have not had many issues with it snagging any of my whiskers, but again you've got to go slow take your time, and at least for my facial hair I end up having to press relatively hard to Get a close shave and it literally takes me about 15 to 20 minutes to do all that. I've tried dry and wet shave. Dry shaved for me seems to give the better shave but again it's quite a bit of work to get that smooth skin shave I want. I would not purchase it again but considering I have it now I will use it see how long it lasts. Read more
I have used a Norelco since I was 15 and I'm now 84. My previous shaver was 20 years old and still worked fine. Even the batteries charged as expected; however my beard seemed to get tougher and my neck never seemed to be shaved as desired. I saw the add for the i9000 prestige but didn't want to pay that price so I settled on this model. I've shaved with it only twice but I can say it gives a close shave. Seems smooth as a blade to me, but I haven't shaved with a blade for a long time. Right now I'm well satisfied with this product and will update later if my opinion changes. I gave it only a 4 rating mainly because the Norelco line of shavers is extremely confusing. I know they want to satisfy all price points but choosing gets pretty tedious. Nonetheless a great product. Read more
