This is a really nice gua sha tool. Really nice. It's obviously solid because it's hefty for such a small thing. The steel is fully polished and the edges are nicely rounded and smooth. I've had issues in the past with other tools where the edges were not all that great and I had to do some work to get them smoothed out. I shouldn't have to do that, and I certainly don't with this one. There are no tool marks or scratches on it, which is just a cosmetic issue but shouldn't exist on a new, quality item. It does have the brand stamped on it, which is expected and reasonable. If I made this nice a tool, I'd put my name on it, too. It's just a well-made tool. I am going to assume it's solid stainless through, as advertised, because I'm not going to destroy it to find out otherwise and I have no reason with the quality of it to think otherwise. It works as it should, if you know how to use it. Holding it properly, it doesn't feel unwieldy or awkward in the hand, and the contours of it are well done to fit a variety of areas, not just the face. I really like that it's solid and holds a bit of chill, then eventually warms up. If you want it cold, alternate between this and a hand or other tool and set this on a cold pack or in a glass of ice water. For heat, do the same but use a heating pad or a glass of hot water. Be careful to not burn yourself or the person you are massaging if not you, and don't freeze it; frozen metal should not be used on delicate skin because it can cause damage. It slides smoothly across lubricated skin. I tried a couple of different types, including gels and creams and it works well until those either broke down or absorbed. You just add more. It's easiest to scoop a bit of whatever you're using on the tool, on the side you're massaging towards. Not only does that concentrate whatever you're using, but it keeps so much of it from being absorbed by your hand or by parts of the skin not being massaged. I love this Gua Sha tool! Even if you don't believe in moving blocked energy in your body, this tool at least helps you give your skin a really nice massage. Gua Sha is actually an ancient Chinese medicine practice. (You probably already knew that.) I'm just pointing this out because for ages it has been used to stimulate blood flow and promote lymphatic drainage. I use this for exactly that purpose. I ordered the Jade version of this tool. The Jade is a wood element (Feng Shui). I practice Reiki, so green Jade is also linked to the heart chakra. I’ve incorporated this tool into my morning and nighttime routine. I wash my face with a gentle cleanser. I then apply either an essential oil or a vitamin oil to the tool. I usually begin at the base of my neck. It’s important to angle the tool instead of using it straight up. I then gently move the tool upward to my jawline or out toward my shoulders. For my face, I move the tool upward and out toward the edge of my face. (Think of gently moving stagnant fluid to your lymph nodes.) This is my morning and evening gift to myself. When I’m finished, I always wash the tool with soap and water. I also apply my usual moisturizer and creams as I normally would. I definitely notice a difference in my skin tone and puffiness around my eyes. I think the key is sticking to it. I believe you could use this tool 3 times a week, and it would be just as beneficial.
