Im going to say 3 stars because I've had this ac unit for aprox 2 months and I read nowhere in the owners manual, Amazon, or reviews that you should have a window cracked when its on. If you dont it can create something called "negative pressure" and it sucks the air from inside walls. If you live in an apartment building this can be really nasty and make you sick. They should provide a big warning about having a window cracked. Finally after I figured it out its making my whole apartment nice and cool. It was hot with it on for two months. Nobody I talked to about the stench seemed to know either. I think they just thought I was a complainer or something. My electricity bill has been high. Im thinking the ac unit was working extra hard because of the negative pressure. It was starting to affect my health slightly (because I'm very healthy). I love this thing for my apartment bedroom. I bought this because I was sick and tired of lugging that huge window AC, installing it, and, of course, since it's an extra-wide window, I also had to purchase insulation every year. Pros: Easy setup. Easy maintenance. I have a decent-sized bedroom for an apartment, but I'm cold all night. Cons: It can generate water, especially if it's humid. I chose the constant drainage method. It works for me. I let the hose drain into one of those Home Depot orange buckets. Knock on wood, I've never had a problem with that method. Read more

Horrible experience. In Florida, I bought this unit to replace an older AC that was having a hard time keeping up. Imagine my shock and horror when I open my front door and get hit in the face by air hotter than outside. This AC was in use less than a week! My dogs were in this now oven like setting and my 13 year old dog was unable to lift his head let alone escape out the door. The AC didn’t trip a breaker, it was blowing hot air! I had to rush to save my dog. This was a horrifying ordeal I wouldn’t wish on anyone. I hauled it out as soon as my dog was cooled down and stabilized. It blows nice and cold which is great, but it doesn't do so quietly. Me and my wife had it running last night in our room as it is getting quite hot with summer, and when the A/C compressor turns on it is LOUD. Eventually we turned it to its fan mode which significantly lowered the noise but then we no longer had the A/C going. Overall, it was cheaper than others so that's nice, and it does at least blow nice and cold. Read more
