I received the FUNLOGY portable Bluetooth speaker in blue. The size and blue color makes it adorable! The manufacturer claims a level of waterproofness, which I didn’t test. You will definitely need to insert the waterproof cover over the charging port if you’re heading out to the pool. It’s a little smaller than a small teacup and not overly loud. I’m not an audiophile, so I’m basically comparing the sound to my phone and this speaker is much better. It has some bass, but I’m pretty sure it is not stereo. Given the sound and volume I think this speaker is best to use in your personal space, probably no farther than 10 feet away. It will work great at your desk or when you go out to the deck or pool. Also, the manufacturer states that the battery will last around 12 hrs at 20% volume and around 3 hrs at max volume. Pros: 1. The Bluetooth is very strong. I used it in my 40’x64’ shop and it continued to steam music 50’ away, with my phone in my pocket. 2. You can continue to stream music while on charge. Also, it came with a short charge cable. 3. Pairs to your phone quick and easy. 4. It has a nifty little attached strap to carry it with. 5. It has the capability to be paired with a second FUNLOGY speaker. Cons: 1. There doesn’t seem to be any way to know how much charge is in the battery, so it seems best to make sure it’s fully charge before you use it. If you are not familiar with Amazon Vine, it is basically Amazon trading free* products for honest reviews. You see a lot of Vine reviews that are cookie cutter and based on templates. I aim to make my reviews honest and non-cookie cutter (other than this intro and disclaimer). * These items are not actually free as Vine members pay income tax on the items they receive. Therefore, I will never order something from Vine unless I actually intend to use it. I think this is important for readers to understand because it means I will never order an item just to provide a fake five star review to a company. If I review something as good, it means I actually enjoyed using it or it fills its intended purpose correctly. Items that don't meet my expectations will be reviewed accordingly. Why I ordered this item: I am a big fan of bluetooth speakers and headphones. I have reviewed tons of bigger bluetooth speakers, and I'm interested in reviewing smaller units now so I ordered this. My current favorite small speaker at the $20 price point is the Stormbox PocketGo, so I will compare this speaker to that one. Likes: * Audio quality is very good but the FL01M is not a loud speaker. At lower and higher volumes, audio is clear and consistent at all frequencies. It is definitely quieter than the Stormbox, but audio quality is clearly better on the FL01M. I'd go so far as to say this has some of the most balanced and clear sound I've heard out of a sub-$40 bluetooth speaker. * The weight is incredibly light. At around 7oz this is the lightest speaker I have tested (it's just a hair under the Tribit). * Build quality is great. It has a rubberized body and it feels very sturdy. I would say this speaker has the Tribit whooped on build quality. * The back panel over the charging port makes a tight seal so you can take advantage of the waterproof-ness of this speaker. I probably won't be submerging it in water, but that's what IPX7 can apparently do. No likes: * As I mentioned, I would appreciate a little more volume. * An EQ app would make this speaker a lot more approachable, though it is balanced. I think the app could help with the volume issue. * Battery life is pretty low compared to the competition. The PocketGo has an incredible 20 hour battery life @ 50% volume, while this has around six at the same level. This has a 600mAh battery, while the Tribit has a 2400mAh battery and weighs just a few grams more. Would I pay full price for this product: Yes, I find what this speaker offers to be unique and valuable. Final thoughts: I think this is a great product for the right use case. If you don't need multiple days or charge and don't need to blast you music but do want incredible audio quality for an ultra-low price, this is a spectacular speaker. This little red mini Bluetooth speaker is perfect for casual, low-stress use like hanging out at the beach, sitting on a blanket outside, or anywhere you want music without worrying too much about water or sand getting near it. It’s small and lightweight, which makes it easy to toss in a bag and bring along without thinking about it. The sound quality is decent for the size. It’s not loud and it’s not a bass monster, but it works well for background music and casual listening. You can hear it clearly without it being obnoxious. One of the best parts is not having to baby it. I don’t feel stressed about it being near water or used outdoors, which makes it great for beach days or outdoor lounging where things are not always perfectly dry or clean. I've tested and reviewed many Bluetooth speakers of this size and price point and I think this Funlogy mini speaker has incredible sound quality. Of course, with any speaker of this size, there are volume limits. This speaker won't produce enough sound for an all out pool party, but it will sound great on a table between a poolside couple lounge chairs. It's also water resistant, so its perfect to be around damp or wet locations like a pool. The speaker has a built-in strap to hang off a bag or just about anything. You just need to provide your own hook like a small carabiner latching hook. The power port has a good sealing silicon cover to deter any water intrusion. Buttons on the speaker include a power button, volume up/down, a play/pause button, and a button to switch audio outputs. The buttons are a little difficult to see as the buttons are the same color of the silicon skin on the speaker. I really enjoy this compact Bluetooth speaker as I can take it just about anywhere. I like to take it out to my shop to listen to my playlist while I'm working on projects. Based on the overall quality, sound, and price point, I consider the Funlogy Mini2 Bluetooth speaker an excellent value! Read more
