At first I read the ingredients listed on Amazon and ruled out this product because I don't allow Hydrogenated oils in my diet for obvious health reasons. Then I spotted a Power Crunch bar at Whole Foods and read the ingredients - no Hydrogenated oils included. Confused, I then called BNSG (manufacturer of Power Crunch) and asked that they confirm whether this ingredient is included (past & present) in any of the Power Crunch bars. (3/2012) I was told by BNSG that Hydrogenated oils have never been a part of this protein bar's formula. I informed them of the error on Amazon's site (for all flavors) and they didn't seem too concerned by this, but said it would be investigated. I can only guess that BNSG is currently meeting its sales goals and therefore can be complacent to have such erroneous info attributed to their product. I hope that this review can help others be more willing to give these bars a try, since they are really a nice product. I have ordered many cases from Amazon and NONE have included the stated Hydrogenated oils. Having hopefully clarified any ingredient issues, let's get on to the other features of this unique protein bar. If you like wafer style cookies, then this item may be an interesting choice for those looking for a new protein bar. Since the wafers are made of whey protein, the flavorings are in the coating and in between the wafer layers. Such construction allows for this protein bar's consistency to be light and non doughy, as almost all other protein bars on the market aren't. I especially like them because this feature means that they won't weigh me down and will digests quickly. The flavors are also very good while Vanilla and Triple Chocolate are truly DIVINE. They are also sweetened with Stevia, so of course there is no bitterness or aftertaste. The only negative features are that they crumble easily so it's important to eat/transport them carefully, they melt easily so refrigeration afterwards won't restore them to their original form, and the Wild Berry Creme flavor does contain one food dye colorant (Red 40). Cases of each flavor are also priced differently - some being almost $3 more. I like the Power Crunch bars because of the texture. I like the crunch and light taste. Similar to a candy bar in the satisfaction it gives me but not sweetly cloying like candy. Way less sugar. I usually get vanilla or strawberry, but I went with the Peanut Butter and Fudge for variety. Yes, there is a mild "extra" taste. After taste, but not enough to turn me off. I think the whey protein comes through a bit more on this one or something. I do prefer vanilla but that is just me. I would probably get these again, again as part of having variety. But my go to is vanilla, strawberry, or plain chocolate. I rate it 4 stars. Some may love these some may dislike them, it ultimately comes down to your own tastebuds. Read more
