I was looking for an upgrade to my 5060 16GB Ti which is a pretty capable card but needed better for some games that I'm getting back into. I'd rather push a capable card lightly, than a less capable card hard. Prices these days suck but I can take the hit for this case. I decided to go with the ASUS PRIME 5070 Ti card for my mITX build that I have. This card looks good but it had issues. I got a bunch of rainbowing in the display, flashing issues, instability. Now this may be a driver issue, but It's the same machine with the 5060Ti in it so was surprised. I tried all the typical stuff reinstall, adjustments etc. etcc. but it was always unstable so I am returning it. This soured my NVIDIA experience so thought why not try AMD and see. I looked at the pulse and the reaper 9070XT and decided with the true 2 slot reaper. It's a great looking card, 2 8 pin which i like and a 2 slot for small builds. Uninstalled the old drives and installed AMD octane or whatever it's called and got the app and drivers installed. This card is dead silent and runs PERFECTLY. VERY impressed. I will now consider AMD first before NVIDIA down the road. I hope they can compete better as time goes on as well. If you're looking at the 5070 TI don't hesitate on this AMD 9070XT. It's a great card, cheaper and solid. It took me a long time to break free from the cult. You can do it too. Read more
Good video card so far. I had a ASUS Prime 9070xt and the Reaper scored abotu 200 points lower on 3D Mark (TimeSpy) than the ASUS Prime. I used the AMD software auto overclocking and with that on it scored about 600 points higher than the Prime. IF you can get this cheaper than others, this is a good buy. I got it for $699 (over MSRP still) but was $100 cheaper than other 9070xt. You can overclock, safely, and get better results, and save yourself some money. The AMD software has come far, I like it over NVIDIA's for the most part. These probably wont hold their value like NVIDIA cards but 16gb of memory will probably get me more years than a higher end Nvidia card these days. Size-wise this is great and graphics look great. Definitely a significant upgrade over the 4060 and the B580 I tried before this. Read more
This is going to be nerdy. I purchased this to replace an nvidia 3080 TI in a linux (bazzite) gaming PC. Not a huge upgrade but for Linux I wanted the better driver support. The order was estimated to come in around December 28th through late January (likely overseas shipped). Instead it arrived early on December 21st. Everything went well and I'm very happy with the card and shipping time. I'm quite happy with this model as it isn't as tall or fat as some of the other 9070 XT models while staying nice and quiet. It is fairly long but not immense. Linux report: Using bazzite all I had to do was rebase to the new OS and everything worked. I do have 2 problems that are the Linux driver (first: electron apps like Discord flash black frames occasionally if VRR is running on my main monitor and discord is on the secondary monitor, second: my monitors won't return from a sleep state). Both of these are able to be overcome with kernel kargs. Otherwise everything is quite smooth and shaders compile much faster than they did using an nvidia card in Linux. I subjectively like the saturation better on the AMD card as well. Games also stop more cleanly than on the nvidia card (my primary problem with nvidia on linux was that closing a game could take a few seconds and randomly would freeze my system ... so far none of that with the AMD card). All of that last section would apply to any recent RDNA card, not just this model of this card. Read more
Arrived without damage, fired up without issues, updated drivers was stress free. I was on the fence about upgrading from my 7xxx series GPU but with the ram shortage pushing prices up I decided to jump in before they go absolutely insane. So glad I did. The performance was seriously noticeable. First off I benchmarked the reaper 16Gb card vs my 7600 xt. Performance was about 20-30% better overall. I periodically run a couple LLMs and haven't tested the AI chops on it yet. It should be a huge improvement. Gaming: I've tested this card and have noticed no stuttering etc in games like Where Wings Meet, Warthunder, Lost Skies, Mechwarrior 5, No Mans Sky, Cyberpunk, or Once Human. I've been able to crank the graphics settings and haven't noticed any sluggish behavior or crazy loud spin ups from the fans. The card appears to be well built. The backplate is of a standard thickness. It is a long GPU but nothing crazy when compared to currently available offerings. It is longer than my 7600 xt by an inch or so. Installation was typical. I would suggest getting a support for mounting any type of long GPU horizontally to reduce some of the load on the motherboard slot. But that's not a con. Highly recommend this card for anyone looking for an upgrade. Wish it would have been a bit cheaper though but we can't heave everything. Read more
