Very nice hub with a few caveats
I bought this hub because it has both usb and usbc connections. The build quality is excellent as has been connectivity with my computer. I have experienced no problems with it so far and it works well with my McBook Air M3. While I suppose the buttons are handy for some I have found they are not really necessary for my applications. Also, when I use them on my storage devices, I receive the dreaded “disk not properly ejected” message. However, this is a Mac issue and not a problem with the hub. I also understand I can turn off that messaging, which I may do to eliminate that irritation. In retrospect, I wish it had more usb outlets. I was surprised at how quickly you can fill up 7 ports when your computer only has 2 and one of them has to receive the usb hub. These are minor complaints and really not related to the quality of the hub, but I wanted to give a heads-up to MacBook Air owners who are considering this purchase. I rate it excellent as is, and the combination of usb and usbc connections can’t be beat by the other hubs I was looking at. However, if another hub had the same array but more outlets, I would probably go that route. I also think that if you tend to shut your computer down after using it the buttons are not really necessary, although I thought I wanted them at the time I bought the hub. One irritation I found was that it is easy to unknowing turn off buttons when unplugging a device. (It’s necessary to hold the button slightly longer when turning it off, but I found this can easily happen when unplugging devices. Granted, it has led lights to alert you to this and in the end it’s no big deal once you discover why something isn’t working, but it’s also something to consider when buying any hub with buttons. I also suggest buying a hub where the buttons are on the opposite side of where you reach across the hub to unplug devices. Again, excellent hub but I wish they offered a larger hub with the same mixed usb array and gave you the option of buttons or no buttons or at least having units with buttons on either side so when you place the device for your purposes you aren’t reaching across the buttons to unplug your devices.
