The media could not be loaded. I bought this portable handheld steam cleaner for one very specific, long-avoided mission: my kitchen range hood. To set the scene… This hood has not been deep cleaned since I moved in 14 years ago (and we are healthy eaters so not a lot of grease. Since our home was a fixer-upper when we bought it, I am also pretty confident when I say that the previous owners loved greasy meals and pretended the range hood naturally cleaned itself and needed no human intervention via cleaning. I will be honest by the time we got to addressing remodeling the kitchen we were burnt out and while it not pretty to look at it was functional. But I always told myself this cleaning project would only happen once I owned a steam cleaner. Enter this little handheld hero.I finally decided it was time to go toe-to-toe with this accumulated grease nightmare fuel. When I disassembled the hood and looked inside, I realized a few things: 1) I was absolutely correct about the buildup, 2) Good chance I would need an old priest and a new priest, 3) The tap water I added to the steamer needed to be blessed before I started. Sent the family out of the kitchen for their own spiritual safety, and got to work. Now, full honesty, most of the thick, fossilized grease still had to be physically chiseled off first. This grease had opinions. It had tenure. It was not leaving quietly. But eventually I got down to that final, sticky, stubborn layer.. this is where the steamer had its moment to shine. The steam did an excellent job of loosening that last glue-like coating and made it so much easier to wipe and scrub away. It didn’t magically turn my range hood into a shiny infomercial miracle in 30 seconds, but what it did do was dramatically speed up the cleaning process and save my sanity. In summary: The old priest and the new priest arrived mid cleaning and immediately said "nope" and left, Several cleaning brushes and towels did not survive the operation. Their sacrifice will be remembered. And by the end I can review this with honesty: If it can make a serious dent in three decades of mystery grease, it is worth bragging about. I’ve been looking for a tool like this for a while, and just waiting to pull the trigger (somewhat pun intended). This one works about as well as I have expected so far. The key to remember is this is not a high pressure washer. This will not blast off chunks of wood from your deck or old paint off the house, but that is not the intent. This is a safe cleaning tool. I’ve used it as much as I can over a few days so far, and it works best for cleaning greasy type stuff for me (which is great because that was one of the main reasons I got it). We have a stainless gas stove burner top, and trying to use chemical cleaners and small rags to get in and clean things (not wanting to scratch with anything abrasive) is just more difficult than it should be. Especially around the burners. It is a bit slow but the grease just melts off. Not slow as in like take long, but you just can’t wave it across as fast as you can an expect it to clean. I’ve used just the pinpoint type nozzle for most things so far and it works great. There are other brush ends I could try but having a surface I don’t want to scratch in having gone with those yet. I have also used the end that has a squeegee on it to steam clean a few windows and mirrors and that works pretty good. Really goo covered stuff though worked better with the pinpoint nozzle. I also used this to clean off a number of goo or what I thought were permanent stains on carpet. Gone in about 5 seconds. Even a carpet cleaner and scrub by hand couldn’t get some of those marks up. For that alone this tool would be worth it. I did try the metal extension and the steam does come out a little cooler when using that. That is one minor thing to be aware with a tool like this is the steam is hot right near the exit but just damp about 3-4” further out into the air. I have a garmet steamer that I actually used to steam off old window tint film And I think that produced a larger volume of hot steam but with very little pressure. This using pits about 50psi out according to the docs and that seems about right. A couple of little points for other folks considering this. You will need to get 2 AAA batteries to make it work. The main unit is powered on by plugging it in, but that just gets it ready. To actually start the steam process to need the trigger button. It is actually a button on the back of the hand grip but I think that works better to allow you to turn around the grip more without fear of your finger accidentally turning it off or to a higher level. Also, once you have batteries in, and the unit links to the wand to tun on and off, a long press does that and a short press to change from level 1-3 shown by a light. You will hear a pump turn on, and about 10 seconds later a small bit of water will drip/spray out from that pump action before it starts to heat enough to create steam. There is maybe a 2 or 3 second delay on this first cold start then th me steam starts, and about another 10-20 seconds after that full pressure builds up. The levels appear to just run the pump at a higher level so there is more water but that doesn’t really change the amount of pressure coming out, nor the heat of the steam; just the overall amount.
