Great design, under engineered.
Two problems with this sharpener. 1. Display stays lite when motor is off 2. Biggest problem, motor is under powered. Blade stops in the middle of sharpening stroke. 3. I was in manufacturing for 40 years, if they could fix these 2 problems it would receive a 5 star rating I sent this unit back Read more

Key is speed and pressure
I read the reviews on this site. I’m glad I decided to try it. It put razor sharp edges on all my knives. Key is to let the machine do the work. Absolutely no need to put any real pressure on the knife. The guide is made to hold the knife to the perfect angle. If you push the blade down it causes the knife to move away from the guide. Also by pressing the blade down you will get uneven edges because the sharpening wheel will slow down and cause the edge to dip Jut lightly guide and pull the knife back slowly. Start off by not starting with an expensive knife but with a Chinese blade from a box store. Read more
