This telescopic golf ball retriever arrived well packaged in a plastic bag with instructions included. The seller offers this retriever in three different length options: 9 feet, 12 feet, and 16.3 feet. We chose the 9-foot version and feel that it’s more than long enough to retrieve most golf balls. In our experience, the longer the retriever gets, the more flexible and harder it can be to control, so the 9-foot length seemed like the best balance. The retriever is made from stainless steel, so it should be rust-resistant and hold up well over time. One feature we really like is the spring-loaded head, which helps lock the golf ball in place once you grab it. That makes it easier to lift the ball out of water or rough areas without it slipping out. The handle is also comfortable to hold and has an anti-slip grip, which is helpful on hot days when hands tend to get sweaty. At the time I received this golf ball retriever, it was priced at $20, which seems like a reasonable and competitive price. Golf balls aren’t cheap, so this tool can easily pay for itself after recovering just a few balls. My husband likes to use it when he’s waiting for the group ahead of him. Sometimes he’ll collect enough balls to fill an entire plastic bag. He can then use them during his next round or when he’s practicing at the driving range. Overall, we’re very happy with this golf ball retriever and would definitely recommend it. Read more

I wish I didn't love this golf ball retriever so much. That tells you a lot about my golf game. I used it several times yesterday and I will share my experience. I have never owned a golf ball retriever and thought it would be nice in situations where retrieval is just out of reach. My first use was on the edge of a lake on a very difficult par 4. I could see my ball, but could not reach it with my club. I proudly and sadly grabbed my ball retriever, extended it to about 6 feet and it worked perfectly. The spring release head design functions as you would expect by securing the ball so you can retrieve it without fear of dropping. The build quality is excellent. The telescoping shaft is sturdy and smooth. The grip is nice and it is very stable to use. I have the 9ft version, so it is likely the most stable being shorter. It is very compact and fits nicely in my golf bag. I also had a chance to retrieve a ball in tall grass and it worked well for that as well. Overall I am very pleased with this golf ball retriever and I think it is an excellent value. Read more

I've never used one of these before, so this review is just about the function of the product overall, not in comparison to other similar products. Overall, I think this product is probably worth about $10-$15. I do not think this is a great value at the listed purchase price (right now $19.99 for the 9 foot). Pros: 1. It is lightweight. Even at full extension, I can easily maneuver it to where I want. 2. It does not have to be rotated a certain direction. From both sides of the orange circle, the inner white retention circle can be triggered. 3. It does pick up golf balls. I played around with it and it does work. Cons: 1. The spring-loaded inner circle does trigger pretty easily. If you are trying to retrieve a ball from an area with sticks or rocks, it can be accidentally triggered early, and you will have trouble picking the ball up. 2. Once the spring-loaded mechanism has been triggered, it is difficult to reset it without pulling the retriever out of the water and doing it by hand. It is possible, but somewhat difficult. 3. Once triggered, it does hold balls, but not super securely. If you bump the mechanism on anything while pulling the ball back, it would be pretty easy to lose the ball. Then you have to pull it out, reset the mechanism by hand, and try again. 4. It isn't the sturdiest thing in the world. I think this is a trade-off for being so lightweight, but I do not believe it will stand up to heavy use. Although if you are heavily using it, maybe you should invest in golf lessons rather than ball retrievers. Read more

Golfing in the desert means not only dealing with cactus, but snakes and other ready-to-bite creatures that are likely hiding out under the shade of a bush or tree, so I've been using this golf ball retriever to keep myself out of harms way. The spring reacts quickly and securely traps a ball, tho I do need to get the angle just right trigger it. I have to come right over the top of the ball which sometimes means bending down to align the pole properly. The 9ft pole telescopes easily and retracts just as easily. 9ft has been plenty long enough for me to get a ball thats in a bush or cactus while maintaining a safe distance. I suppose I can't reach down to the bottom of every wash or up towards the top of every hillside, but chances are if my ball ends up in either of those, it is lost anyway. I'm happy with the overall quality and functionality; this has been a very useful tool for me. Read more

I am not a very good golfer, and therefore, I'm spending a lot of time picking up my stray balls. This gadget is just what I need to make life easier on the course. This golf ball retriever is very easy to use and it works great. The telescoping design allows you to extend it as far as needed. It is very simple to use, you just press down on the ball and the spring portion keeps it in place. It's great for fishing balls out of the pond - you can save money by actually getting your balls back with this device. It is lightweight and slips easily into your golf bag. It seems very sturdy. It comes with directions but it's very intuitive to use. Be sure to dry it off after using it in water to keep the spring mechanism working properly. It would make a nice gift for any golf enthusiast. Read more
