More often than not, you get a sense for the quality of the product by the packaging used by the manufacturer to get it to you without any damage from being banged around during shipping. Being somewhat of a packaging nut when shipping stuff, I was pleasantly surprised by the sturdy shipping containers these were packed in (not talking about the Amazon packs (they're usually adequate). More pleasant surprises as the box was opened when the internal packing was exposed. The dome shaped glass was completely protected from damage and the other parts. In short, all the components were carefully packed and in perfect condition. Once every component was unpacked and checked against the parts list, it was time to turn off the circuit breaker for this light, take the old fixture down, and install the new fixture. All parts fit well and the finished installation was really good looking. My only nit to pick is that the installation sheet was difficult to read due to very light printing density and small print. Having installed this type of fixture before helped me because it's important to put the flexible (soft plastic) washer between the glass dome and the steel washer when installing the glass dome over the threaded rod. Also, do not tighten the intermediate nut too tight against the steel washer. Tighten until some initial resistance is felt. Make sure the dome is centered on the brushed aluminum mounting fixture and then tighten the nut just enough to keep the dome snugly in position. Add the decorative washer and nut. You're done! Oops! I'm very happy with these lights. I ended up purchasing 4 altogether. I originally purchased 2 because I wanted to add additional lighting to my closet during my master renovation and thought these might be a close match to the lights I already had. These were so much brighter and so much better looking than my other two lights that I decided to replace the existing lights as well. The lights give off a nice bright, but not harsh light. The finish is attractive, but not fussy. For something that is going to be in my closet, I feel like they are a very good value for the money. They were not expensive, but they don't look at all cheap. Read more

This is a high quality light with a nice modern look. I really like the color and brightness of the light. I used two 75 Watt Equivalent LED A19 light bulbs which goes perfectly with this. The screwing and wiring of the light is pretty straightforward, but it helps to have another person hold the light for you during the installation. One important thing to note is that mine did not come with the metal screw that goes on the bottom. I was able to work around this by using the screw from my previous light. Like another reviewer mentioned, no installation instructions (more like schematic) but it is a basic install for the most part. Also it only came with 2 screws to mount the fixture to the bracket but not the screws to mount the bracket to the housing in the ceiling. Then there is the issue that the screw length is too long in my case meaning i cant get this light flush with the ceiling. With it being loose there is potential for it to fall from the ceiling. I will end up doing what the other reviewer did to get this mounted in a better way by installing the screws from above the bracket and using a washer and nut to hold it. The metal base seems a little flimsy but should be OK. Glass looks fine. I like this due to the other fixtures i purchased made by Progress Lighting but this must be one of the lights they didn't put much effort into making. Read more

This is a good looking light which costs considerable less than the comparable product from my local big box store. Install is on par with installation for a light of this type, 3 wires (white, black, and ground) and two screws that attach to the light box and then navigate the heads through the insulation into the slots in the light fixture all of which is listed in the installation paperwork. The only mildly difficult part is working above your head. The glass on the first fixture received had a two inch crack in it, Amazon quickly sent out a replacement which was in perfect condition. Have had it installed for about three months now with no problems, I will probably pick up a couple more to replace other outdated lights. Read more
