The media could not be loaded. HOLY SEARING, BATMAN! I've tried at least a half dozen ways to sear things after sous vide, and this is far and away the best of them. On a scale of one to ten, it's about a 14. This propane torch has quickly become one of my favorite tools for both cooking and outdoor projects. I originally got it for lighting campfires, but after putting it to the test in the kitchen and at the grill, it’s now my go-to for everything from searing sous-vide steaks to firing up charcoal and roasting peppers. It’s powerful, easy to use, and built like a tank. The setup is effortless—just screw it onto a standard propane tank (it fits the 1 lb bottles or larger 20 lb tanks with an adapter), press the trigger, and you’re off. The piezo ignition lights instantly every single time, and the flame control knob allows precise adjustment from a gentle blue pinpoint for delicate tasks to a roaring 3-inch flame that can light a chimney of charcoal in under three minutes. The power this thing delivers is impressive—I’ve achieved beautifully browned steak crusts in less than 30 seconds without overcooking the interior. The build quality feels premium. The carbon-fiber finish looks sleek, stays cool to the touch, and gives it a well-balanced, light feel in the hand. The metal body, brass valve, and stainless nozzle inspire confidence, and the trigger has a firm but smooth pull that allows easy one-handed operation. The heat dissipation design actually works—the handle doesn’t get uncomfortably hot even after several minutes of continuous use. Safety features like the lock switch help prevent accidental ignition when the torch is stored in the camper or grill drawer. After extended use, the piezo igniter remains reliable and crisp, and the smooth flame control makes adjusting intensity intuitive. The only small drawbacks are that the carbon fiber finish can pick up fingerprints and the torch doesn’t come with a stand or holster. Those are minor trade-offs for a tool this reliable and versatile. Pros: Instant, dependable piezo ignition every time Strong adjustable flame with excellent control Lightweight but solid carbon-fiber handle stays cool One-handed operation with safety lock Great for searing, caramelizing, lighting fires, and outdoor cooking High-quality construction with premium materials Cons: No included stand or holster for storage Carbon-fiber finish shows fingerprints (cosmetic only) Goes through propane FAST (or is that a pro?!) Overall, this propane torch has exceeded my expectations. It’s made cooking and grilling far more efficient and actually fun to use. Whether you’re searing steak, caramelizing desserts, or lighting up a firepit or grill, it’s a high-performance tool that feels built to last. Absolutely worth it for anyone who loves to cook or camp. Or if you need to keep zombies at bay post-zombie apocalypse. Read more
My first impression of this propane torch was that the photo in the listing must be designed with AI because it shows a Butane bottle not a propane bottle. I dropped a star because of this inaccurate and potentially dangerous photo. Rest assured, this is a PROPANE torch that will accept a 1lb propane bottle or a 20lb take with an adapter. Butane cartridges will not fit and would be very dangerous to attempt to fit. Now that the fuel question is clear, it is wise to discuss propane. Propane is an odorless gas that manufacturers add a sulfur smell to alert you of leaks. For this reason, regular propane is not the best choice for cooking. The propane smell will be imparted to your food. The best choice for cooking for this device will be MAPP gas, a hotter burning propane that does not have an added smell, so your food has no off taste. You can tell MAPP gas from its yellow bottle. If you are not cooking and just need this torch to burn weeds, start fires or melt things regular propane will work admirably. The torch itself is obscenely powerful, as previously mentioned by reviewers it is best described as a jet engine. It is easy to use, it lights and adjusts easily with piezo ignition. The torch is built like a tank especially in the business end. The device is a large, yet lightweight, short of adding a 1 lb container. The torch works entirely too well and you will be a legend if you finish a sous vide steak with this beast. The price is high for this item but it is totally worth it. I would never want such a powerful device to be of lesser quality than this sturdy device. Read more
Amazon Vine sent me the Annatuoli propane torch head in carbon-fiber finish (tank not included) free for testing. Over the past two weeks this little flame monster has been my go-to for finishing sous-vide steaks, lighting the backyard firepit and charcoal grill, blistering peppers for salsa, and even crème brûlée experiments. In a house that does weekly oyster roasts, boat-grill sessions, and occasional kitchen torching, it’s earned a permanent spot next to the grill tools. Set up and Fit: - Standard CGA600 thread—screws right onto common 1 lb propane bottles (Coleman, Bernzomatic) or 20 lb tanks with an adapter hose - Carbon-fiber wrap looks sleek and stays cool to the touch even after prolonged use - Adjustable flame control dial + safety lock + piezo ignition—clicks and lights first try every time - Angled nozzle keeps your hand away from the flame—perfect for reaching into grills or deep pots - Setup is literally screw-on, click, and go—no tools needed. Performance: (two-week test) - Ignition: Piezo works flawlessly—100 % first-click starts, even in windy Folly Beach conditions - Flame power: Dial goes from gentle crème-brûlée blue pinpoint to roaring 3-inch sear blast—perfect char on ribeyes in 30 seconds - Charcoal lighting: Lit a full chimney of lump charcoal in under 3 minutes—no more chimney starter or lighter fluid smell - Run time: 45–60 minutes of continuous use on a 1 lb bottle at medium-high Safety: Lock prevents accidental ignition in the tool bag; trigger is firm enough that Johnny can’t easily fire it Sous vide finish: Gave restaurant-level crust on steaks without overcooking the interior Build Quality: - Metal body with genuine carbon-fiber sleeve—lightweight yet feels bombproof - Brass valve and stainless nozzle—no cheap pot-metal that warps - Flame control is smooth and precise—no sudden jumps - Piezo igniter still crisp after 100+ clicks Only tiny nit: carbon-fiber wrap shows light fingerprints/oil from grilling hands (wipes off easily). Pros: - Instant reliable piezo ignitionWide flame range—delicate to dragon-breath - Carbon-fiber looks and stays cool - Perfect for searing, lighting charcoal, or culinary torching - Safety lock + trigger = family-friendly Cons: - Tank not included (you probably already have one) - No stand or holster (I keep it in a grill drawer) - Carbon fiber attracts fingerprints (cosmetic only) My Take: (family consensus) Emily: “Best sear I’ve ever gotten on sous-vide steaks—better than the cast-iron finish.” Me: “Lighting charcoal is now stupid-easy—no more waiting 20 minutes for the chimney.” Johnny: “It’s basically a handheld flamethrower—coolest kitchen tool ever.” At ~$80 street price it’s pricey but a no-brainer upgrade from cheap butane torches or unreliable piezo lighters. If you grill, sous-vide, or just love playing with fire safely, buy this now—your steaks and charcoal will thank you. Already ordered a second one for the boat. Disclaimer: Product received free via Amazon Vine. Tested for two weeks in real Charleston grilling, searing, and fire-starting conditions with 1 lb propane tanks. Open flame—use common sense, keep away from kids when hot, and never leave unattended. Safety first, sear second. Read more
