I'm a little unsure of gow to start this review. This keyboard makes me go WOW! So let's take it in parts: I got this for work, because using a regular mouse and keyboard setup has given me bursitis in my shoulder (I'm short, which means I reach further forward to get to these devices than other people). I wanted a combo device I could keep in my lap so I don't reach forward so much. I already use a lap pillow for ergonomic support for my forearms, so this was an easy swap. First, the packaging is incredibly lovely. Whoever designed it needs a raise. Not only was it nicely boxed, but the keyboard itself comes in a beautiful little buttoned travel holster with a pocket for the stand. Second is just ease of use. I charged it first (easy, USBC) and flipped it open - it instantly started trying to connect. My Bluetooth detected it right away and connected easily. It worked without having to reboot or troubleshoot. Third, the keyboard mouse combo is essentially why I bought it, and works really well. Fourth, the keyboard is essentially complete and doesn't have any weird truncated keys. It has the delete, page up and down, control, function, and quotation keys all accessible and in the right places. Finally, it has a Settings key, which I hadn't realized was missing in my life until they provided it 😭. AMAZING addition!! Caveats to consider: I wouldn't necessarily call these "negatives", but they are worth considering before buying. There isn't a way to lock the keyboard open, so it can fold up unexpectedly if it's not placed flat. I use it in my lap, and it honestly hasn't been an issue. It's not terribly ergonomic in terms of curved keyboard, raised keys, etc. However, my goal was to just stop reaching forward so much for my mouse and typing. Having both accessible in my lap has helped immensely with that. It doesn't have a full separate number pad. However, I already have a Vaydeer programmable extension keypad, and am happy with that. This ProtoArc foldable keyboard with touchpad is a great combination of portability and quality. This keyboard is foldable and works very well considering it is so thin and light. There is an attached trackpad which is handy as I use this with my iPad Pro (M4) when traveling. I give the keyboard 5/5 as it feels good and everything works as you would expect it to. All the function keys seem to work. The attached trackpad I give a 3/5. It works well enough with one big exception. The scrolling function is borderline unusable. It will start scrolling slowly and then suddenly speed up, overshooting what I was trying to view. It is nowhere near as smooth as the Apple Trackpads when scrolling. Using it for everything else seems to work ok, it really is just the scrolling. Luckily there is a page up/down button close to it so I’ve resorted to using it for most scrolling. My combined score is a 4/5, if they fixed scrolling this would be an easy 5/5. Read more
I've had many different Bluetooth keyboards over the years. This one is by far the best. I travel with my laptop daily using a pair of Ray Neo glasses as my monitor for the laptop and often for my phone as well my Oculus at times. This keyboard switches from device to device quickly and easily. The touchpad works great, it's as responsive and accurate as any I've ever used. I've had a smaller keyboard with touchpad before, but this one is much better. In fact, this is easily my favorite keyboard I've ever had for a number of reasons. One, it's thin and lite making it comfortable to type from any surface including your stomach when couch surfing with the Ray Neo's on. The keys feel great and I think I type better on this keyboard because of the slim profile and the easy touch keys. I gave a five star because I really love the keyboard, but there are two things that would make it absolutely perfect.(I wish there was a 4.5 because 4 seems to low) I wish the keys were backlit or at least glowed in the dark and also it would be great if the keyboard could lock in the opened and flat position. If they could add those two features without changing the perfect size and thickness or adding a lot of weight, I'd buy it and I'd have no problem paying a higher price tag. Size is perfect and full, value is the best you will find for the quality, this is your mid ground, a good balance. Tactile feel is great, Bluetooth connectivity may be a little shoddy if you’re far from the device you’re using it on, maybe 5-6 feet reliably. Functions as intended. I wish it had a backlight and a little bit better battery to support the backlight without sacrificing battery life, but now this thing would be the best on the market. Protoarc clearly cares about the quality of their product. Keep in mind you won’t be using this on your lap, you cannot lock it “open” but that’s expected because of minimalism, and if on desk or bed its fine, surface doesn’t have to be 100% flat but yea. I almost rated 4 stars because there’s one thing that bothers me… That is that when you close it back up the little latches may not latch on all sides reliably, but the nice case it comes with idc about that anyway too much.
