If you are looking for a great starter board for a young girl, this one should definitely be on your list. My daughter just took up skateboarding and loves this board. It functions as good as it looks! The price is comparable to those cheap ones you see at the box stores, but this skateboard has better components by far (great trucks, and good wheels, and a great deck.). For a beginner (and even intermediate skater) you want to have soft flexible trucks (The square component the wheels attach to) that will allow the rider to make easier turns. The ones in the box store are typically very hard making the ride uncomfortable and hard to maneuver. Even if you don't buy this one, do your skater a favor and do not buy a store bought prefab toy. My daughter needed her first skate board so we bought this one based on some of the positive reviews and appearance. For a "beginner" board this one is quite good. It seems to be very sturdy and built well and the graphics on it are great. Some of my daughter's friends did some more advanced tricks and skating on it and it held up well. One thing though is the trucks on it are very tight and will need to be loosened a bit to make the board more responsive, but that's easy enough to fix with a small wrench. Bought this for my younger daughter- had bought a punisher for my older daughter a few months before and my younger fell in love with it. This is a great skateboard for a beginner- my 7 yo loves it. I have ridden it and adjusted it- had to adjust the trucks pretty extensively and my only complaint would be that in order to make this board at all flexible, it seems really loose. Also, not thrilled about the small wheels on it- the other one that i bought for my other daughter had larger wheels, easier to handle. I can swap out the wheels- not a biggie. Just not what I expected having bought the other- expected consistency. The wheels may have been defined as being smaller in the description and I missed it- so I won't mark it down for that. I bought this w\for my 6 year old daughter's first skateboard. My thoughts were that at the price of this complete board it would be heavy with terrible bearings that would stick. Both of which wouldn't be an issue for a child learning to ride. I was totally surprised at the great quality of the trucks, wheels, and bearings. With one kick she was off rolling without abruptly coming to a stop. It was also just the right weight for her to be all over the board for footing with toppling off one end or the other. Made in China. The board quality was as expected for this price range. The wood of the deck is ok, but just a nodge above a $30 Wal Mart board, and even arrived covered in a sheet of thin plastic, like the ones at Toys R Us. The rails, (edges of the board) were sanded down quickly, in a very crude way. The graphics are just a full length sticker. The wheels are very soft. Soft = slow. Slow even for a beginner. The trucks are high quality and well made, but the bushings inside are not. They 'lock' in either direction and force the board and rider to turn whatever way they are pointed. Even with wrench adjustment (not included). This board may look just like a 'PRO' board, for 1/2 the price of a real skateboard shop, but it's not. My 12 year old niece just started skating a few weeks ago, and could tell the difference between this, and my pro board that I loaned her, in just a fun runs. It may still be a good board for a beginner, their very first board to learn on. But will soon be ready for something faster. Also a word about Amazon's shipping. It arrive quickly, but came in a HUGE, oversized box, with only minimal shipping paper to protect it. The board was flapping around in the crushed box, and I expected the worse. Well, I don't really have any complaints about the skateboard, but I do have a lot of things i like about it. First of all, the deck is very sturdy; you can tell it's not just another cheap board. Second, I love the design on the underside. My first time seeing the design I said "This is the one." I also like the stickers that came in the box. I've already put one on my laptop. I think this skateboard is perfect for beginner, intermediate, and pro skaters. Read more
