VERY NICE KUKRI FOR THE MONEY

This appears to be a very nice Kukri. When I first saw it on Amazon, the price was listed as $59.99. Two days later, I saw that it had a 50% off coupon, so I snatched it up immediately. The next day, it went back to the normal price. Two more days later, it had another 50% off coupon, so I grabbed it for a friend. This kukri seems very well made, and the price of $30 is beyond amazing. First, the blade is solid, but not overly heavy. It balances well. It's advertised as being made of American S35N steel with a Rockwell hardness of 58. There is no such steel as S35N. There is, however, an S35VN, which is an excellent high grade steel. If this knife is made from S35VN, it's even more amazing. All the lines, angles, grinds, fit, and finish reflect quality workmanship. The cutting edge displays amazing symmetry, and is razor sharp. Those I have purchased can shave the hair from my arm with absolutely no effort whatsoever. They are so sharp that they will cut you if you stare at them long enough. Well, almost. Use caution, because they are scary sharp! The rosewood handle is large, but feels very good and solid in the hand, and the wood to metal fit is perfect. Rosewood is a fairly expensive material, so this is just icing on an already fine cake. It also comes with a paracord lanyard. My second purchase of this knife had a couple very small specs of corrosion on the guard where it meets the handle. Thirty seconds with some 0000 steel wool cleaned it right off. A light duty leather sheath accompanies the kukri. It would not hold up very well to rugged use, but is okay for general applications. If you know anyone into leather work, you could have them use the sheath as a guide and make a solid, durable sheath that would withstand the rigors of an outdoor environment. If you can get this for $30, grab it! This kukri appears to have enough quality that it could easily retail for over $100. If this kukri is made of quality steel and was properly heat treated, as advertised, even the normal price of $59.99 is a very good deal. Being skeptical, I have to wonder if a $30 knife will do what it's supposed to do. Everything I have seen in this knife says that it should do just fine. For the money, it's absolutely worth taking a chance on. Let's face it, two people can barely get a crappy lunch at some fast food joint for $30. To me, value is the sum of an item's quality, practicality and price, and the Purple Dragon kukri may just be a tremendous value. Stay safe out there, and God Bless! Read more

GOOD, BUT NOT GREAT

THE MULTI TOOL IN PICTURE IS JUST THERE FOR SCALE SO YOU CAN GET A BETTER IDEA OF ACTUAL SIZE… I HAD HIGHER EXPECTATIONS, DON’T GET ME WRONG ITS A SOLID KNIFE HAS SOME WEIGHT TO IT BUT EXPECTED IT TO COME WITH THAT NEW KNIFE SHARPNESS BUT WAS A BIT ON THE DULL SIDE SO I HAD TO SPEND SOME TIME PUTTING AN EDGE ON IT… THE SHEATH IS ALRIGHT, THE TOP SNAP IS WEAK AND DOESN’T TAKE ANY EFFORT AT ALL TO POP IT OPEN BUT THE BOTTOM TWO SNAPS SEEM TO HOLD TIGHT. OVERALL IT SEEMS LIKE IT’S GOING TO BE A SOLID KNIFE BUT ON THE LOWER QUALITY SIDE Read more
