Great Structure, Great Fit

I have had this coat for 6 years and the inside lining just started to rip. I will be buying a new one asap. The coat is very warm and thick. It also allows for layering if you get one size bigger. The coat isn't too soft but I am okay with that because I don't like too soft of a coat on the outside. The inside is silky so it's great for putting on quickly. I got it in black and it is true to color. If you have bigger shoulders, do size up. With the weight and structure of the coat, it will still give you a great shape. The ONLY and I mean ONLY con I have after wearing it for so long is it does pick up animal hair quickly so make sure to always have some kind of lint roller with you. Overall, definitely recommend if you are looking for an edgy but still classy look for the office or just want to feel fancy :) Read more

I love this coat, fitted and helps shape the body

I love this jacket. It has personality, it’s fitted in the waist so it hugs curves nicely and it’s very soft and comfortable. The jacket is long enough to cover most of my body and offers a beautiful presence if the event is too cold for an evening dress. The lining is a silk type, which I appreciate the feeling of. It’s heavy and durable. Read more

Overall happy with my purchase

This coat is exactly the same as the handkerchief hem coat sold by venus, but is half the price. It is a stylish coat and good quality for the price. I have yet to wear it outdoors, so I can't comment on how it will hold up to the elements. I have very long arms and buying outerwear that fits my torso and has sleeves long enough is always a huge issue. This coat fits great. The chest fits perfectly, the waist could be a little tighter, but my chest-waist-hip ratio is 36-26-39 (hourglass to pear shape). The coat hits me between mid calf and below the knee. I am between 5'7" and 5'8". I ordered the size small. The sleeves are sewn into a sort of bent position, which i found odd initially, but it actually offers more flexibility this way. The coat could use a good ironing as some of the seams make it a little poofy around the collar, lapels, and bottom. I have not washed the coat yet, so I don't know how it will hold up to washing and drying. The hood is huge. It looks cute over a beanie, but my head swims in it otherwise and it covers my eyes. Unique coat. U am excited to wear it this winter. It is not wool, but the material is better quality than basic felt at least. I do not have pets, so I don't know if it attracts hair. Read more

Warm, heavy comfort with a different look.

I love this coat!!! It’s so warm! I recently lost my original one and my life was so sad without it…so I just bought a new one. It keeps my legs warm and looks so anime/goth/edgy. It’s a good quality for the price and is nice and heavy. I really enjoy the button positions. I can close it close to my neck and pull up the collar to protect my face from wind. I can button it one handed. The hood has a dramatic point like a withes hat while the coat itself has a witches dress look. It’s well made, with good pockets. I am considering buying one for my sister. I might even get it in another color. I love this coat. I hope whom ever found my old coat loves it as much as I did. I did find it confusing at first because it’s kind of oddly shaped, but once inside it, I felt as if I were under my favorite blanket. Read more

Not at all like I'd hoped

Nope. Got an XXL, b- black because I loved the style of the flare bottom with the high low hem, and the buttons all up the front. The biggest size would not fit me, and I am actually a reg size girl with a bit of stomach. The material was like felt, no lining, and seemed like if you pulled it to try to button it, it might just rip. The "waist" sat at my ribs, not my waist. The whole side of the thing where the buttons are had a flap that was not stitched down, and obvious. The buttons looked cheap and we're barely sewn on. It was of course very stiff due to the fabric, so no flow to the flared high low hem. I really wanted this coat to be like the pictures but I had a strong feeling it would not be. Packaged very well, but I can't imagine this looking good on anyone. Read more

Great if you want something for cosplay or a more in-depth sewing project

While I ended up keeping this jacket, it for sure was not what I was expecting. First, the good stuff: - I LOVE the design. I got the one that doesn't have the hood (more steampunk/colonial style) and it's a great cut. - The fit was right on point (I'm 5'6" and weigh 150 - medium fit me perfectly.) - Also, I was surprised at the fabric! I was expecting it to be thinner considering the price, but it was fairly decent. Next, the not so great stuff: - This does not come with a lining. And after walking around it in, I noticed a lot of bunching because the felt was rubbing up against the rest of my clothes. Adding lining costs around $100 at a tailor, so if you're willing to spend the extra money, go for it. But from my research, you'd be better off spending $170 on a really good pea coat that comes WITH lining. - The white buttons reminded me of granny earrings, and not in a good way. They're made of cheap plastic. I opted to cut them off and replaced them with some brass Celtic knot buttons. - The side pockets are NOT flattering. There is lot of bunching in the material, the pockets go straight down instead of at an angle and they are awkward to use. The pockets gave me about 3 extra inches of hip on either side. I sewed the flaps down, which helped cut down on the bulk. Ultimately: - If you're not a DIY enthusiast or just need a light coat for a Halloween outfit, get something cheaper. - If you're doing serious cosplay or want something more durable, pony up for a good product on Etsy. It's a worthy investment that will last you a while. - If you're an above-average DIY person with a sewing machine, this could be a fun project. After all is said and done, I spent $70 on the jacket, $24 on new buttons and $50-75 on fabric for the lining (plus the time it takes to add said liner.) So this ends up costing me $150-$175 after I put all the work in. Read more

Unique, magical coat

I don’t do a lot of reviews, but this is an amazing coat. I got the medium and I’m 5’ 6 165 lbs. It works perfect because I want it form fitting. If you want to layer underneath it go up a size. This coat is almost theatrical I just cannot wait to wear it. 😁 Read more
