These work on a wide variety of ants, but don't seem to kill the nest

I've used these Raid ant baits several times. My house is right next to a large game preserve with a mix of forest, fields, and marsh. So we get a lot of ants of all varieties. Tiny little pavement ants, carpenter ants wandering in and looking for new nesting sites, little red (not Fire) ants that love to literally eat through plastic bags and contaminate our food. I've seen at least five varieties that show up in various numbers each year. And the Raid baits seem to help reduce the numbers of all of them. But these baits only seem to kill the adult ants, not the nests. So if you have a major infestation or an ant mound right next to your foundataion, you'll need something else to actually get rid of them altogether. My recommendation would be to buy the Raid baits as a first line, then check for active nests nearby. If you find one spewing large numbers of ants within 50 feet of your home, grab a couple of them and do a species check on an identification website. That'll give you a better idea of which bait, granule, or spray you need to kill off the queen and larvae. This often takes weeks, but once they're gone they'll stay gone at least until the next queen breeding cycle, which is a once a year thing for most ant species. Read more

This Bait Ain't That Great!

The Little Buggers Could NOT Have Been Less Interested! Purchased to help combat a plague of hundreds of troops boldly traversing all over the kitchen countertops the week before Christmas! And believe it or not, like Hannibal's hordes - they even invaded both the refrigerator AND THE FREEZER in Winter (nimbly scaling their way in through the crevices of the rubber lining in the doors!). After reading all the positive reviews, was expecting the bait would bring about an end to the assault, but instead, the invaders COMPLETELY avoided the bait like, well...The Plague. So the product proved totally useless. Did some research and read the lack of fatal attraction might be that I was dealing with the "wrong" kind of ants: Savory vs Sweet-loving - that's a nice disclaimer to NOT include in the details. But y'know what did work, and ALWAYS eventually brings about victory? Good Ol' Dawn mixed with water in a spray bottle! You just need to be diligent and persistent in tamping down the uprising, and when enough of their insidious and frenzied comrades eventually die, they'll finally get the message and find elsewhere to ransack. Guess that'll it do it for this little review. Now please excuse me, as I need to wipe away hundreds of little black carcasses off the countertops and chip away the others from their icy graves - OR I could just leave them there...much like ancient rulers would leave the severed heads of their enemies on spikes to serve as a warning to future scouts of the consequences of being unwanted guests. Worked when nothing else did!

We had a pretty bad ant infestation with those small black ants (the kind that don’t bite). They were constantly showing up in our living room, bathroom, and even a few in our bedroom. My husband tried spraying pest control both outside and inside the house, but no matter what, the ants always came back. My father-in-law suggested we try this, and I’m so glad we did. The very first day, there were dozens of ants forming a line straight to the bait; they were clearly very attracted to it. By the second day, ants were still coming but in smaller numbers and mostly gathering around the bait. Today is day four, and the difference is huge. There are no ants in the living room at all, and I’ve only seen two random, lost ants in the bathroom. That’s it. The baits don’t have any odor (at least I don't notice), they’re not intrusive or noticeable in our home, and since we don’t have pets or kids, we didn’t have to worry about safety. This product worked for us after a couple of attempts. Read more

Raid Ant Baits

I have used these in the past and they have worked beautifully. However this time the ants are avoiding the trap altogether! Could the baits be old? Read more

Highly effective and fast results

If I could give this product a 10 Rating, I would. We live in SW Florida and is an insect's paradise. I dropped a pistachio nut on the floor without realizing it and the next morning we had hundreds of tiny ants feasting on this single morsel. After I removed the pistachio nut, ant 'scouts' remained in the general vicinity scouting, for DAYS, for other available food items to alert the colony - truly annoying. I bought the Raid Ant Killer Baits, watched where they were entering and exiting the room under a baseboard (we keep a CLEAN house and have a pest control company work on the outside of the house regularly), so there was a colony somewhere in the wall. Within a few hours, the scouts had found the Raid Ant Baits and were swarming over, and into, the bait containers. Within 36 hours, nary a single ant to be found in the area - none, zero, zilch, nada. SUPER EFFECTIVE, no odor, no mess, easy to deploy, safe, fast acting and very affordable - problem solved !!! The Raid Ant Baits killed the entire ant colony within 36 hours. THANK YOU Raid !!! I HIGHLY recommend this product - it simply works. Rating - a TEN star product ! Read more
