Ok, first things first: if you buy this belt, and you want to avoid having a Chinese finger trap-esque panic attack, take a moment to understand how the belt release works BEFORE you put it on! There's a little lever, that you can't see while wearing the belt because it's on the bottom of the buckle, that you have to pull forward to take the belt off. Otherwise it will only tighten, never untighten. Seriously, I was almost at the point of grabbing a scissors before I finally figured that out! Ok, now onto the belt itself. Let's talk function first. This belt gets an A+ on function. I'm not used to belts where you can adjust it to the EXACT size you want. It's truly a great thing. Another underrated feature: you can discretely adjust it in public. With a traditional belt, you have to undo the belt to adjust it to a different hole, and that's not exactly the kind of thing you're just going to do standing in the supermarket, you know? With this belt, you just grab the belt and the buckle and push them inward to tighten. Or hold the release lever to loosen. Brillant! This is a frequent problem for me because if I'm in the car I like the belt loose but then if I'm walking around with a bunch of heavy things in my pockets I need it tighter. In terms of stretchiness, it's in the sweet spot: a little stretchy so you can breathe, but not so much that it doesn't hold its sizing. Another little feature I like: the belt has a small loop next to the buckle to tuck in the extra slack. (you can see it in the first product picture) The loop itself can be adjusted left-to-right as needed. This is great because for the size belt I ordered, the extra slack doesn't reach the first loop on my pants, so this little slack loop keeps the slack from sticking out into the air. Ok, now let's talk style: this is a weird belt, style-wise. The belt itself feels maybe a little TOO informal to wear with business casual, although the guy in the product photo seems to pull it off. the buckle is on the larger side as far as buckles go, and, I mean it's kind of goofy but also shows you don't take yourself too seriously. I'm giving this 5 stars even though I'm not entirely sold on the design, because the design is accurately represented in the pictures so if you can decide for yourself how you feel about it. The striking design of this belt captivated me the minute I saw it. As a women buying a man's belt, I had to play it by ear though. There were measurements for sizing, so I decided to go for it. I'm really glad I did. It was clear from the moment it arrived, in a handsome gift box with the metal buckle safely wrapped in a thick plastic pouch, that this is one tough, durable belt. I’ve never owned a belt with a snap buckle before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. This one is an uncomplicated two step process: pull the belt through while pushing the lever, and then let it go to lock. Tuck it in the belt loop and you're done. When it comes to fit, it's actually better than my leather belts. It adjusted to perfection on my waist, without leaving stretched out holes or an awkwardly long, floppy ends. And it will always fit, no matter how or what I wear it with. Style-wise, it’s a winner too. The webbed material is thick and sturdy without feeling unwieldy. The sleek, modern, buckle with the subtle little puppy logo imparts a counterpoint to the ruggedness and makes it adaptable enough to wear with any kind of slacks. Incredibly functional belt. I can't believe how easy you can make a quality belt for under $20. This thing is beautiful because it is so simple. The buckle works easily and holds tightly; the release pin is even easier than a traditional belt. I didn't have to do any adjusting, but it is awesome that you can simply undue the strap, cut it to length, and reattach it as firmly as it would have come from the factory. The Hashiji ratchet belt looks really nice and can be tightened to exactly where you want it. The belt has a bit of stretch to it and is held in place by jaws that are opened using a little pickle-like lever on the side of the buckle. The tag is easily removed by opening the clip that secures the attached end of the belt. You an also remove the belt to shorten it if necessary. The quality is very good. I did not see any defects in the belt or buckle. The buckle has a very reflective finish and looks stylish. I am not sure how much I like the dog logo. There's nothing wrong with it per se, I just don't normally wear decorative belt buckles. One thing I do like is that the loop to tuck in the loose end of the belt is fully adjustable. You can slide to where ever it needs to be. I also found it easy to use the release lever. This is a very nice belt with excellent features and a good price. If you don't mind the logo, then it's a good buy. Read more
