We have owned the seven inch version of these same dvd players for 5 or 6 years. They finally stopped playing. So when it was time to buy new I went back with the same brand in a 9 inch version. These players are great in that they start the movie from where you left off. The picture is great and the sound quality is exceptional. The only drawback is the cord arrangement. There are just too many cords. But like I said before we owned an earlier 7 inch version of these players and they had the same drawback. We have owned these now for four weeks. And I expect to have the same great reliability I had from our earlier version. If reliability is what you are looking for with the great picture and sound these are for you Read more

This is perfect for our 2 1/2 year old granddaughter. We have the monitor hanging on one headrest and the player/monitor sits up front to put in disks and work the menu for her until she gets older. With a brand new grandson, she'll be able to work the remote by the time we put the second monitor in back for him. UPDATE: All of the sudden, after about 4 1/2 months the product wouldn't power on at all. The fuse in the Cigarette lighter adapter blew. I ordered some of these slow blow fuses: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007Z7QNYI?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00 Put one in, and it works again. Hopefully the time delay fuse will keep it from blowing from a simple spike. Just wanted to mention this because, I see that there are several reviewers who said that theirs stopped working as well. It may be just a fuse. Read more

Edit 1/2017: We did purchase another cable but it didn't fit, so in the end this is trash. We'll be using movies downloaded onto tablets for our next trips. Edit 10/9/16: We used this for the 4 hour round trip, 20 hour round trip, 12 hour round trip. Halfway through the 12 hour trip, the DVD player started turning off every few minutes and completely restarting. Not sure what's going on, but I'm not sure it's really worth it for just 30 hours of use. I suspect it might be a problem with the power cord, so I'll look into trying another one, if it will work... Other wise, this is worthless. :( (Deducting 3 stars- it worked well when it did work) * We have 5 kids and a 2008 Toyota Sienna minivan. We had 4 trips out of town (2 hours, 11 hours, 6 hours, and 12 hours each way) coming up, so we thought it would be nice to get something so we can play DVDs in the van for kids. I like this type of player because it has 2 monitors, so we were able to put a screen in the middle and back rows. **WITH the longer cord that we bought, this is a pretty great 4 star DVD player.** Resume play: With all the many stops you’re going to make in 20 hours of driving with children, it’s a really nice feature that this dvd player always resumes. I think the only time the movie didn’t was when they hit the power/stand by switch on the side of the monitor, which is fine. It’s nice to have a way to reset the DVD without opening the player. Portability: We changed the configuration of the DVD player set up a few times. Having the player right in front of the toddler meant he could throw things at it, and he could kick the cord and cause the secondary screen to go black. We slipped it off of one head rest and put it on the other. You don’t need to remove the velcro, just slide the whole thing up and off. I appreciate how convenient this was while driving. Cord lengths: First concern was “how many cords are we going to have hanging between our seats, and near our toddler?” But this player only has 2 cord: 1 to a cigarette lighter for power, and 1 between the two screens (maybe 3 feet long?). Because we were putting these screens in 2 separate rows, we had to move seats closer together so that the included USB cable would stretch from screen to screen. Then I had to make sure the primary screen was close enough to a cigarette lighter to plug in to the power. This whole thing was a headache until I bought a 6 foot usb to usb cable C2G 54171 USB 3.0 A Male to A Male Cable 6.5 Feet (2 Meters) - Black , which solved all the cord length issues! Skipping: The first trip we took was to Columbus where we found that the (scratch free) dvd was constantly skipping when we came across bumpy roads. I was frustrated because I feel like technology would surely be able to handle bumpy roads by 2016, and I was even tempted to return the player. However, on the next 10+ hour (each way) drive, we only had a couple of skips on the movies we watched. Volume: It’s a little on the quiet side when you’re playing a movie in a van full of 7 people. The kids didn’t complain, but I would prefer it to be a little louder. You also cannot adjust volume from the remote, so you need to have someone who can find the volume button (On the back of the device almost against the head rest), sitting near it. Overall, this player is worth the price. We have an overhead DVD player from our last van that we’ve been saving to install in this van. However, it was actually cheaper (and much faster) to order these players than it would be to install the overhead one. This worked perfectly for keeping cranky little ones entertained on the long drives. Read more

We purchased these monitors for a 3000 mile road trip from Indiana to Florida and back. I was a little leery about purchasing the units since there are so many bad reviews. But in the end I decided to take the chance (and save some money). I was pleasantly surprised. We had very little issues with the units on the entire trip. We decided to place the standalone monitor on the headrest in front of my 2yr old son and keep the player on the center console so my wife could switch DVDs and watch if she wanted. The cables provided were long enough to allow this in my crew cab pickup truck. The DVD player was pretty much on for 6-8 hours a day over the course of 4 days of driving there in back with no real issues. Pros: - No problems reading DVDs and no DVDs were damaged on the entire trip - Pretty rugged. My son wanted to kick the monitor repeatedly and it stood up well with just a few toe prints. - Headrest straps, though kind of cheap feeling, held the monitor in place very well after it was properly tightened. - It did skip from time to time when we hit particularly rugged interstate, but those instances were few and far between. - Good volume for highway use. Cons: - The screens tend to get warm, but nothing dangerous. Kind of the nature of LCDs - The volume controls for each screen are independent of each other. Would have been nice if my wife could have controlled the back seat volume without having to reach back and adjust the monitor. - On the DVD player, there is only one latch that holds the cover closed. It seems very poorly designed, but it is still holding up. I kind of see this as a possible failure point in the future. Overall, very happy with the purchase and look forward to using again on the next big road trip. Read more
