I got this to play back burned discs on an old VCR/DVD but got lazy and tested this on some old TV games instead. According to AI, the output resolution of most classic Jakks Pacific TV Games is standard definition, typically 240p or 480i, depending on the model. Being that the resolutions are so low and that this item cost less than 10 bucks I was not expecting a miracle. I tested Dig Dug on one and thought the colors were off, but then plugged into an old CRT and found that the colors matched. When I tried my SpongeBob game the screen was very white / bright / blown out compared to on the CRT. My photos don’t quite capture this - they look darker than to the naked eye. Flipping the 720 / 1080 switch didn’t change anything. I do see another review mentioning bright white output so maybe this is an issue with video as well. I’ve used other upscaling devices before and there’s really only so much they can do. You can’t take a low res image and expect it to look HD! The bright white is my only gripe but for $7 there’s not much room to complain! Read more
