I was gifted a new television, a couple of years ago, but my DVD player still works just fine. Unfortunately, I needed something to connect the DVD to my new TV. This did the trick. It didn’t take too long to set up, and it works perfectly. It does require a power cord, but that’s OK. I’m just happy that my DVD player is back up and running. This works well. This is cheaply made, however, the picture quality is very good, the colors are very accurate, and it is very good value for money. The device is compatible with my brand new television as well as my fifteen year old Nintendo Wii. I would say that it has a weird screen if there is no device plugged in, which makes me think that something is not working. I used this to connect my old vcr tapes and dvds to my smart tv and it works great! I didn’t know you had to plug it into the wall while using it via usb so I assumed it didn’t work at first, just for the tip. Changed my review!!!!! My first purchase of this item, was so disappointed that it would only work a few minutes then lose connection entirely, the only way to regain connection was to unplug, replug several times, wiggle wires etc. The Replacement, opening of box, was used and clearly a returned item. ONLY because I already had the vcr out and was set to watch some old family movies vhs did I try it anyways. IT WORKED GREAT!!! was able to watch the entire VHS with no issues!!! Believe first purchase had a defective wiring internally, and unsure why my replacement order was a return or why someone returned it, I'm sure glad that's the one I got because it works exactly as advertised!!! The so-called "instruction manual" is only a tiny folded paper with microscopic print. It just describes the contents. The "instruction diagram" just shows "connect the device to the player and TV." No indication as to how. For someone who is technically inclined, they will have no problem. For someone like me, I had to see where everything went by experimentation. I finally did figure it out and the converter seems to work fine. It just needs better instructions. I would say in the end it was worth the money. Read more
