Redcat Racing Piranha-TR-10 Piranha Tr10 Truggy Blue

I bought this for my 3year old. He loves it, we take it off jumps and race it through the dirt, mud, grasss and on the street. Way faster than we need, I put a tie strap on the trigger to cut the speed in half after awhile but it is still plenty fast for him. He has run it full speed into a mailbox and it broke the mailbox but didn’t hurt the car. His other favorite thing to do is “climb the tree” he runs it full speed into a large tree and runs about 4’ up then falls. I’d love to figure out how to upgrade the remote to one that will allow me to reduce the forward and reverse speed. I’d also like to get another body, maybe a different type as we have rolled this thing so much I can’t see this one lasting too much longer. We upgraded to 3000 mah batteries and they are awesome but do get hot when you are running hard. I’d guess we are getting 25 to 30 mins on those. I wish this truck was listed on redcat’s site, but this appears to be an Amazon only vehicle, so I am a bit worried about how to get replacement parts when the time comes. My reverse works fine, it’s just too fast and get wobbly if you goose it in reverse. You have to “double tap” for reverse which is likely a safety feature so you don’t slam it in reverse by accident a full forward speed. Read more

Not new to the hobby and decided to give REDCAT RACING a look. This is an Amazon exclusive RC car and very reasonable priced for the quality you are getting. The build quality is outstanding. While mostly nylon/plastic.. it's resilient and tough as nails! Brushed motor is plenty fast for a young driver or even a seasoned hobbiest looking for a fun, tough 2WD buggy that is ripe for the upgrades! I'm using this card as it is and planning performance upgrades as things break. With the stock battery this car will do 22mph on flat pavement (confirmed GPS) and 25mph running a lithium polymer battery pack! Not the fastest, but no slouch by any means. Oil filled shocks and adjustable steering linkage..pretty cool for around $100! This in NOT a toy. It is a true hobby grade RC car worthy of off-road thrashing. A child's toy it is not. Still that being said, REDCAT RACING put together a very high quality, durable car that will be a great addition to anyone's RC garage. First off, this thing is awesome! So awesome we got two more for the other kids. Redcat and Amazon teamed up for a fun car here. Pros: fast shipping, fast car, value, durable, ready out of the box Cons: as mentioned, we ordered two more after running this one. Two of those three have had minor, I'll call them quality defects. One started making a bad noise in the gearbox, moments later it stopped moving. Inside the gear box are two small gears, both of these were completely stripped. We don't slam it from forward to reverse or vice versa, bit just gave out mid run...Weak. The other car had an issue with the controller. The steering potentiometer froze up completely, couldn't turn the steering at all. Took it apart and worked it loose with some rubbing alcohol but not everyone is going to do that. The worst part is that being exclusive model to Amazon, there aren't many parts out there for this model and Amazon doesn't carry much. A new gear box ran about $30...for an $85 car, that stings a bit. Not to mention it takes over a week to get parts in...Would be cool to be able to buy gears individually. All on Amazon? I'd still buy it again. We have a two acre field and this thing tears it up! The value is good for what you get. Hopefully in the near future Amazon will step up their game with parts and accessories. If you are going to sell an exclusive model, you gotta provide the fun that goes with it. Read more

Amazing product y’all!! Unreal you can get this whole Ready to run out the box RC car for just $129. Comes with a 2000 mah Battery that isn’t the best but there are alternatives from Hexfly (Redcat) and others. I have found that it heats up HOT pretty quick after going through two 2200 MAH batteries from hexfly. But it’s much more than I expected at the price I paid. Pros: Cheap price! Good product! Comes ready to run out of the box! Durable! Easy to get the hang of Pretty darn quick at About 23 MPH stock! Cons: (not very many) Likes to HEAT UP Traction on gravel road not good Battery Connector hard to find alternatives for. Read more

Purchased when it was $80 and even at that price the RTR kit is excellent value. Everything feels hobby grade and Redcat customer support is amazing. First Redcat product and I guarantee it will not be my last UPDATE 6/9/2020 -After a month of use (always ran with stock battery ) gearbox gears stripped out ,but Redcat was generous and sent replacement gearbox assembly -Aprox. 8-10 batteries with new gearbox gears stripped out again ,but I was able to salvage gears from original gearbox to make it functional again. Lasted 1 battery and gears stripped the 3rd time. -I've contacted Redcat twice about this issue again and no response after a months time -Ordered a 3rd brand new gearbox assembly ,but I have very little confidence the gears will last in this one. Basically I changed my 5 star review to a 2 star because for what looked like an excellent product out of the box is now showing the lack of durability in its drive train.
