Smooth installation and looks very professional.

Came bundled with my dashcam, and I installed it easily with no issues or surprises. It plugs into the Onboard Diagnostics (OBD) plug under the dash on the driver's side (mechanic can easily unplug temporarily to plug in their diagnostic code reader, so no interference there. The little box has an LED display that shows battery voltage and some other status info. There's double-sided tape on the back, so you can mount it where you can see it. I installed a wired dashcam in my car over 10 years ago. It was kind of a major project, because I had to research and buy [the equivalent of this component] separately. It ran my battery down so low that I had to replace my car battery twice in three or four months before I solved the configuration issue. With this it was simple to install (plugging into the OBD connector was SO much better than DIY), and the default configuration works fine. Read more

Easy to use vs tapping the fuse box, cord needs to be longer

It was so utterly simple to install. This works on hybrid cars, which many (most) power cords do not support. This cord worked, but it should be about 12” longer. I couldn't hide all the cord because it was too short. I installed a Vantrue dash cam in an NX300h. The installation was tidy, simple, and quick. I tried to use several cords that tapped into the fuse box. None of them worked in a hybrid car. One of the cords did have a warning that it wouldn't work on electric or hybrid cars. I spent way too much time working to debug the issue and I never figured out what was wrong. The positive tap was hot, and the ground was strong. Read more

Simple and convenient way to run constant power to your dash cam. It does not drain your battery.

Review of REDTIGER Dash Cam OBD Hardwire Kit Power Cable Type USB C Port,10FT 12V-24V to 5V,for Dash Camera, Low Voltage Protection This is the 3rd or 4th OBD hardwire kit that I have purchased from REDTIGER. This makes powering my dash camera much simpler than having a cord running down from the cam to the plug in. Also, these cameras have parking monitoring, and this allows me to utilize that function without having to hunt down fuses to plug into and places to attach ground wires. The cord hides easily tucked in behind the vehicle’s trim. I used this one in my 2016 F150, which for some reason does not work well with a hardwire kit that needs to be plugged into fuses. In the event that codes need to be read, this kit easily unplugs from the OBD port, and then is easily plugged back in. It does NOT run your battery down either. An adhesive strip is provided to secure the voltmeter portion of the kit to the underside of your dash or panel. The readout provides you with the voltage so that you know it’s functioning properly. I feel it is reasonably priced. REDTIGER stands by what they sell and has excellent customer service! On an added note, I do feel that the cord is lengthy enough, but it could use more length on the portion that goes to the camera and less on the portion going to the OBD port (in my truck anyway). The voltmeter in the cord would be more easily mounted in more places. As it is, it almost does not reach under the dash and out of the way in my pickup. Read more

CX-30/3 owners can use this, BUT is is SHORT!!!

Redtiger dashcam? for current model Mazda3/cx-30? USE THIS. it works. it is much better choice than going through the firewall. but beware! the wire on this is so SHORT that it barely reaches from the DRIVER side of the rear-view mirror, even if you route the cable the way owner's manual recommend. If you place the camera on the passengers side or even at the center, the voltage regulator will hang on the side of the console and will not allow you to close the driver's side door. with that said, parking mode works, the g-sensor activation works, and so far no battery drainage problem. Works with ROVE R2-4K DUAL Dash Cam!

After trying two different hard-wire kits that are supposed to work via being plugged into the cabin fuse panel, I was nearly ready to do something drastic like running a wire directly to the battery. I'm still unsure why those other kits didn't work, it may be some strange compatibility issue with my 2024 Hyundai Venue. Thankfully, after looking at other options I came across these kits to plug directly into the OBD port. This was the first I had heard of these, so I researched and watched many videos from mechanics and other experts on using the OBD port for accessories like this, and there seemed to be a general consensus that it's safe. One of the more insightful reviews said if you're going to use this type of cable, make sure you only get one that is connecting to the power pins of the OBD port. Unless your dash cam or other accessory specifically requires data access, it's best to only use the power pins and not risk sending errant signals to the system. Upon inspection of the RedTiger product pictures, it appears to only use the power pins. So I took the chance, got this, plugged it in, and to my immense delight my dash cam powered to life! I ran various tests with the camera and cable to make sure that parking mode and all the other features of the camera worked as intended and to my satisfaction everything is working. So, I can verify this cable works perfectly with my ROVE R2-4K DUAL Dash Cam. After that it was only a matter of hiding the cable in the trim and running it down to the OBD port under the dash. I found this very easy and didn't have to drill or otherwise modify my car to install it. I just had to pry the trim back enough to slip the cable in and push it all back into place. I then used some double sided tape to secure the meter box of the cable to the underside of the dash and zip tied the excess cable in place around the mounted box. Read more

camera truns off and on intermittently while driving

Great idea in concept. But mine cuases camera to turn off and back on intermittently while driving. I.m still playing with the settings on the voltage safety limiter. It seems to work best when I put the limiter on the lowest setting. But i'm not sure I like the apparent drain on the battery system if this is the case. And would dedfinitely be concerned while in "parking mode". Read more
