Fairly basic to use, and install. Bought this to provide power to the very nice REDTIGER T700 Rear View Mirror Camera model. Installed it in Sprinter van (2020) by tapping fuse panel beneath passenger footwell. Ran cable up behind panel to right of passenger footwell, positioning the voltage limit sensor box behind this panel, close to the top just below the dash, then continued USB portion of cable up behind the A pillar, making sure not to interfere with air bags, then fished usb wire though small cavity above top of the windshield and out plastic housing at rear view mirror finally to the T700 dash cam, with about 2 inches of wire to spare. This kit has a small in-line "voltage limit sensor box" which can be set by a switch for 12.4, 12.0, or 11.6 volts which, if unit senses power drop below any of these three levels, it will discontinue power to the T700 thereby saving you from running down the car battery if car sits for long periods. The T700 does have feature to record when away from vehicle for security reasons and will continue record until this power kit senses battery voltage falls below the set value, shutting the RedTiger Dash cam down until it gets full voltage again when vehicle is restarted. This Dashcam Hardware(HW) kit has a USB-C connector and worked with my Redtiger F7N Touch. One BIG plus is that the dashcam starts up much quicker. With the standard ACC adapter, the F7N takes an excruciating 21 seconds to start recording. I can be well on the road by then. With the HW kit, the dashcam switches from parking mode to recording in a second or two. It also displays the voltage of the battery and the cutoff voltage. I stuck it to my dash so I can see these voltages easily, but you can easily put it near your fuse box if you want it out of sight. The kit comes with a bunch of 'Fuse Taps' so you can find B+ and ACC power. I had to use a voltmeter to find the active side of the fuse after removing the fuse because the power side was not always on the 'top.' I cracked the case open and I did not see any red-flags with the the electronics - it looks well built. Below are the connections from the Regulator to the USB-C pins. This is important because the dashcam needs to get constant power for its time-lapse parking monitor mode and needs to know when the car is started (ACC goes active) to start live recording, and these signals need to be on the correct pins. Below are the connections from the HW kit wires to the USB-C conector. Red Tiger HW kit USB-C Pinout Black wire: USB-C pins B1,B12 A1,A12 (All GND pins) Yellow wire: Battery+ USB-C pins A4,A9 & B4,B9 (All VBUS pins) Red wire: Switched Acc USB-C pins A5,A8 & B5,B8 (cc1,sbu1,cc2,sbu2) The F7N seems satisfied with receiving the ACC signal on just the cc1/cc2 pins, and this seems to be a dashcam 'standard' if you can call it that. This was verified by using a generic HW kit that did not have connections to sbu1, sbu2. The battery protection cutoff voltage is adjustable with 3 cutoff voltage choices and a digital voltage display, which can be nice to monitor your battery condition. The only issue I have with this HW kit is that sometimes the display does not light up, making me think it is not working. When I start the car, my dashcam starts up but the display does not illuminate with ACC. If I move the voltage cutoff switch, then the display lights up, displays the new cutoff voltage, then it displays ACC. So a minor 'glitch' in the display, but overall it seems to work. Read more

I really had no problems with this hardwire kit. It was easy enough to figure out how to wire it in. It powers on immediately when I cut my car on. The wire was a little thicker to run down the A pillar in my Audi, but fit wasn't a major issue. Overall it's a great value and I don't have wires showing going to my cig lighter plug. Read more

Make sure you know exactly what kind of fuses your vehicle uses, avoid going thru the firewall as best as possible. Most vehicles have a fuse box in the engine area and in cabin under dash check your vehicle manual. After realizing that I missed this step and had to go to my local auto parts store for the Micro2 & Micro3 fuse taps and extra fuses and a new needle nose plyers to pull these tiny fuses. Also a Test Light needle is a must time saver. All wires are tucked away and are connected correctly. Now with 12v & ACC constant connection with the shut off switch displayed on bottom of Dash board drivers side I’m ready to go. Just double check before you buy extra supplies. The Redtiger wiring kit must have your size fuse. Hard wired is the only way to use Timelapse and Gforce. My review on the dashcam is coming , I have a road trip soon vacation well overdue. Read more

I bought 2 of these kits with the F7N camera for the kids' cars. One of them wouldn't work correctly, so I contacted Red Tiger support. With 1 hour, on a Saturday, they approved a replacement and it was at my door at 5:30PM on a Sunday. Great job! Read more

I didn’t expect to have to use two fuses. A accessory fuse and a regular fuse, but it made sense in the instructions and it ended up working perfect. Read more
