I review items as if I paid full list price for them even though I got mine for free. First let me say this is a very high quality device at least as far as I can tell so far. Fit and finish is great. This starter has BIG alligator clips like what are on standard jumper cables. Not the little toy like ones found on most starter jump packs. The unit I got is the V10 version. It is HEAVY, which I consider to be a good thing. I have several other packs that are light weight and will barely jump a four cylinder car. I believe this unit has FAR more capacity then any of my others. In fact when this one arrived it was about 75% charged and still took several hours to fully charge up. Again unlike some of the smaller cheaper packs I have. Proably the best feature on this pack is the fact it has a "force charge" function. Most other packs will NOT send power to a battery if the battery has discharged below a certain voltage. In other words a very dead battery will not be helped by lesser starter packs. This unit however has a button you can press and hold to bypass this feature in the case you have a battery that is below the normal threshold. VERY VERY HANDY. It also has reverse polarity protection and overcharge protection. So overall my first impressions of this unit are very high. OK so why 4 stars not 5. Price... plane and simple. This unit is priced considerable higher than other listed units that appear to be close to or the same quality and feature comparable. Prior to receiving this unit I would have most likely NOT chosen it just because of the price. Now I would seriously consider paying the list price but may still opt for a little bit cheaper one. If I had apples to apples units to compare at different price points I could say for sure, but I don't. So I can say this. If you want to be sure to get a great jump start pack and know you are getting a good one, this is a safe bet. If you want to roll the dice with one of the cheaper units you might get something this nice or you might not. Update to review. I left the hood open on my Dodge Ram 3500 with a Cummins, that uses to large batteries. They both ran down to about 10 volts which wasn't enough to even get the dome light on in the cab. I hooked up the Veratek and tried to start the pickup immediately just to see if it would start. It did! Very impressive in my opinion. Based on this I am upping the rating to 5 stars because if it works that well, it's worth the price. Yes you might be able to get something similar for cheaper, but I know this one works. Read more
I ordered the Veratek 4000A Jump Starter because it offers significantly more jumping power than most jump packs. The first things I noticed upon removing the device from its well-built case are the large battery clamps and the large gauge wires. It also includes a multi-function light at one end and can be used as a 24,000mAh power bank with two USB-A QC3.0 output connections. A USB-C charging connection is provided, along with a charging cable. A nice bonus is the USB A & C car charger (cigarette light style). With only a single button, operation is simple. Press it once to start the jump starter. After that, hold it down for a few seconds to turn on the flashlight with a steady beam. Additional presses cycle through SOS and strobe modes. One more press turns the flashlight off. The jumper cable assembly has indicators for ready, low charge, high temperature, and reversed connection. The back of the jump pack has jump starting instructions and provides definitions of the indicator lights on the front side – nice feature. The main indicator on the jumper cable assembly turns from blue to green once the clamps are attached to the vehicle’s battery and it’s ready to attempt to start the vehicle. If no action is detected for about 45 seconds, the jump pack shuts off. As previously mentioned, the battery clamps are large and, therefore, open wide and have a firm grip. The cable connector that goes into the side of the jump pack includes a protective cover. There’s a mode to charge a completely dead battery – the little red recessed button on the side. Read the instruction manual to understand when and how to use it. The case holds the jump pack, jumper cables, and accessories with a little room to spare for a couple of longer USB cables or a small penlight. There’s a divider flap to prevent damage to the jump pack from the cable clamps. Width and thickness are about the same as many jump packs (approximately 3-inches wide and 2-inches thick), but at 10-inches long, it’s longer than most jump starters, but more capability requires more battery cells. Overall, if you are looking for a very capable jump starter, this is a high-quality unit with a 1-year warranty. Keep it charged, and it’s likely to last many years. This is now my go-to jump starter. Read more

This is a good jump starter / car starter kit. It does take a while to charge even with a higher water charger. The charger is not included in the package but the power cable and the car charger is. It took about 4 to 6 hours to fully charge. After it fully charged I tested it on a lawn mower battery that was dead. It jump started the battery with no problem. About 2 days after that I was in the parking lot and saw a lady with a Honda Civic that couldn't get it started so I used it to get her vehicle started. It started fine again when I checked the power indicator it was showing two bars so I charged it for about 2 to 4 hours after that. It was fully charged I tested it with the bar indicators to make sure that it was fully charged. A few days later I jump started a 4.7 l Toyota V8 Sequoia and it also started it fine. This product is well made it's 30 and it comes in a good case with the items needed for the package. I have used it three times now and the functionality is good. It has a built-in flashlight which is another bonus so if you need to see what's in front of you and you don't have another source this will be helpful. The value on this product is on par with this type of jumper so it delivers a good package for a good price. Read more
