Ridge Skateboards Children Kids Big Brother Large Retro Cruiser

After moving to college last September, I found myself in need of a set of wheels. I came across the Ridge Board when browsing Amazon, and after reading the overwhelmingly positive reviews, I made the purchase. Boy, am I glad I did. Allow me to explain why the ridge board deserves every bit of these five stars: Portability: Since I am in college, I have to sit in lecture halls filled with 400 students. The ridge board is nice and compact, allowing me to easily carry it past other students to get to my seat, and tuck it under my chair during lecture. Additionally, it only weighs five pounds, so when I am in an indoor place like the library, it is not a burden to carry. Easy to Learn: Before I got the ridge, I had never skated in my life. When I got the board it only took me about 3 days to really get the hang of it. The large amount of foot space makes it easy to stay balanced, even when going at higher speeds. Build Quality / Durability: The ridge board is extremely durable and meant to last. In the past 5 months, it has been dropped, kicked, and jumped on (albeit lightly). Through all of this, there is still no signs of snapping or cracks. The trucks are sturdy and the wheels are quite durable as well; all the materials feel like they are of high quality and not “cheap.” I have ridden this board in the rain, on sandy surfaces, and in sunlight, and none of these environmental conditions have damaged the board. Style: The style is great. If you like the typical Penny Board look, then this board can’t do you wrong since it is a near copy. It has that 1970s skateboard look too if that’s what you’re looking for. The style makes it so I never feel goofy carrying or riding this board around campus. The Ride: The ride is super smooth. It feels great along most surfaces. The only surface I feel bumps on if when riding over bricks, but that is unavoidable. The control of the board is great. I loosened the trucks slightly to give it a little bit more mobility. It responds very well to my leans. Price: You aren’t going to get a better-quality board for this price, simple as that. Extremely affordable for what you get. The only negative about the ridge board is the stock bearings. They are not necessarily bad, but I switched to Reds and now roll significantly longer. I would recommend trying out the stock bearings, and if its not what you’re looking for then buy new ones. The stock bearings are not unusable, but not great either. This is a very great board for beginners the deck is very high quality penny nickle board look a like and withstands a good amount of weight (200 lb rider) wheels and trucks are also really good quality! I like to cruise around on it and very smooth ride the penny nickle style allows for smooth rides and sharp turns. Only reason i am giving 4 stars is the bearings are alright i personally replaced them with bones reds bearings. **UPADTE*** For those of you who have broken trucks....just buy a set of trucks online the board is extremely solid 4months(as of 10/29/19) in and no issues. I changed the wheels and bearings cause I wanted the stock one are fine though. Why go out and spend ridiculously on a brand skateboard when you can keep the deck and get trucks for like 20-30(do research so you get the correct one saves you some and you can go ahead and replace wheels and bearings if you wanna with the saved cash) ________________________________ The board is really nice and smooth on a proper road. It's small and easy to carry. I am closer to the 6ft spectrum and when holding it in comparison to my leg it's slightly longer than my foot to calf. It's definitely smaller than a regular skateboard in width and length. I would recommend this more over a penny in my opinion because you have more leg room and its a bit easier because of that. One concern I have is the pivot bushings which I think were worn out before the got to me or they were just that easy to rip after my first ride which I seriously doubt. I wish the bushings were available on Amazon rather than the website which makes shipping come up to 20 or so USD on an item that is 4 USD. Read more

Firstly, it arrived in damaged packaging. The box was slightly deformed and one of the flaps was torn completely off. (Used box??) To my further dismay, the tail end of the skateboard was sticking out of the box exposing it to whatever conditions the package was put through. The board itself has some small scuff marks. I don't know if that's normal since it is molded plastic, which does have imperfections, or if it's because of the way it was treated on the way to me. The colors look great in person, it's not too heavy either. It's unfortunate that no care was shown in the shipping of this item. Little bigger than i thought, but i'm fine with this cruiser Thankfully, it doesn't seem ruined and hopefully rides like it's supposed to. EDIT: Don't let my review discourage you from purchase. It does ride very well and It's a quality board, half the price of a Penny Australia and just as good. Only 3 stars for the unacceptable condition the box arrived in. Read more

Incredible board. Definitely worth every cent. The only flaw is that the tail is higher up than other nickel boards. And remember this is $40 and plastic. The only thing is it takes some wear on the edges. But it’s not bad. That’s gonna happens to any board wood or plastic. This is litterly the closest replica of a officially branded penny board (nickel board). I definitely recommend this board to anyone beginner or pro. Especially beginners! It’s a great starter board. Especially if you don’t wanna spend $160 on something you might not like or be able to do. Also one last thing is the bearings really aren’t that bad on this I mean there not reds bearings but still there pretty good. Read more

This was a Christmas gift for my wife. This was her first time riding a board and it was a really good beginner board. She loved that it came with longboard wheels which gave for a really smooth ride, which took away her fear of tripping over every crack that she ran over. I don’t know how well it would have tricks, but it’s been great for learning to ride and just cruising around. It’s half the price of a name brand Pennyboard and honestly got better reviews than they do from what we read. Very happy with this purchase. Read more
