As someone new to skateboarding, this is perfect to learn on and VERY enjoyable to ride. I bought a very cheap board online which almost made me give up on learning, but after getting the Ridge board I enjoy it much more. I only have the cheap board to compare it to, but the ride is MUCH smoother and more comfortable. The wheels are very soft but sturdy, and you can hardly hear the board while riding. The stock bearings also work very well and the board rolls pretty far on a flat surface with only a few pushes. Although I haven't ridden any of the competitors boards, I can say that this is a very quality board for a great price. If you are looking for a easy to learn board and smooth ride, this is it. Great starter board it’s been over 6 years and it’s still my favorite cruiser. My original trucks did snap because of cold weather not the fault of the board. I would recommend this to anyone. Read more

I've never Skate boarded in my life. I am 32, and I had the sudden urge to learn. I searched through out numerous forums and websites looking for a great budget friendly beginner board. Truthfully many suggested I visit my local skate shop and I would be looking into paying somewhere between 100 - $250. There's not a lot of good to say about this board The wheels get about 15-20 ft per kick on a horizontal surface. (That isnt great) I was new to skateboarding when I got this board, so it went through some low level wear. If you drop it on its side the plastic WILL chip. If you tail slide to stop the tail WILL chip. The plastic is delicate This board only lasted me 3 months before I was making a turn and the trucks came out of their socket. I figured I'd just replace the trucks, but the plastic was so brittle and chipped around the edges that i just chucked it. Read more

My son's penny board broke this Fall so he has been looking for a replacement. He decided on this one and bought the accompanying bag with a carabiner to hang from his backpack. I think it may be a little large to hook to a backpack, but it is a great skateboard. Larger than a penny board but smaller than a long board. Great wheels and great little board. Highly recommended! Having always been a big fan of skateboarding as well as long boarding it was a struggle to find a balance between the two. I found the perfect balance of smooth riding, nice turns, sturdy board construction, price, and size in the 27in Ridge board. Constantly being bombarded by the masses telling me to get an official Penny board almost pushed me to shell out the cash for one.
