I love this ring alarm kit it came with everything I needed to feel more secure in my home with my kids for the starter packet. Easy setup I bought this in a bundle with a front door camera and indoor camera. The motion detection is on point never misses a beat. The alarm siren is very loud as well and definitely worth buying in a kit. Read more

My electric bike was stolen from my backyard. The thieves jumped my locked gate, went through the side gate then took the bike from a closed storage shed. I had thought about an alarm system but had put it off due to cost. Well, my Ring kit (5-piece) cost a heck of a lot less than my replacement bike - lesson learned. On to my review... I purchased the 5-piece refurbished Ring system. I've always had great luck with Amazon's refurbished electronics. Added was an Outdoor Gate Sensor and an Outdoor Blink Camera (I already have a Blink doorbell). The setup was pretty simple - I just took my time and followed the guides. The look of the components is modern and clean. I incorporated the base unit into one of my gallery walls. The ring changes color so I always know the state of the system and it looks cool. I included the keypad as part of a vignette by my front door. The door sensors are mounted toward the top of each door frame and pretty much blend in. I chose not to install window sensors for now. I have manual window locks because of my A/C system. I've tested the siren (it's in the base unit) and it is super loud - very effective. Arming and disarming the system from the app, Alexa, and the keypad is very simple. All systems are a go LOL! I'll be installing the gate sensor today but have already tested it and it works great. There is a range extender included but it looks like I won't need it. It would be nice if Ring would include a template to wall mount the base unit. The mounting holes on the back are pretty awkward to work with. I used Gorilla Tape to mount it rather than messing with the screw mount. I haven't decided on a subscription plan yet so I'm self-monitoring for now. Yard signs are available separately, which I'll be purchasing as an additional deterrent. Read more

I have an older Ring system at our main house. Bought this alarm kit to protect our Florida Condo to work with our new Kwikset z-wave lock. The whole system installation took about one hour. Unlocking the door lock with your code rather than the key AUTOMATICALLY disarms the system. Highly recommend any of these Ring home alarm kits. They are NBR. No Brains Required Read more

After research, I bought and installed this system. I like it and recommend it. Here's what I've learned: The system works well and was very easy to install. It's mostly wireless. Simple tools are all you need for mounting outdoor cameras and solar panels. I bought the basic system and added to it. The basic system still contained things I don't need such as the main keypad and motion detectors. You may want them. If you have several doors and kids coming and going, having a keypad by each door may be just what you need. You may want one by your bed. Motion detectors without a camera seem unnecessary, but maybe you want them. Door and window detectors seem like a good idea, but I didn't buy more. I may add more later. It's very easy. I think it depends on why you want any security in the first place. We are now retired and want to watch our house while we're gone. I think if a guy is going to break in, he's going to grab stuff and be gone pretty quickly. The Ring stickers on all the windows may deter him. If he does break in, I will have him on 'tape' and the cops will likely catch him later. If a window or door is broken or open, I will know that and can alert my neighbor. I recommend having a great neighbor. Too bad you can't order one on Amazon. I have added outdoor cameras. I live in Minnesota so I needed wired cameras. The batteries stop working in the cold. It gets really cold here. The doorbell handles the front. There is one watching my driveway and another at my back door. I have 4 cameras inside. Living room, dining room, kitchen, and another in the basement to watch the furnace. I also bought a smoke/CO2 alarm 'listener' and a freeze/water sensor. It came as a two-pack so I have two in my basement. I made sure I had the regular number of my local police department on my phone so I could call them if I needed them to respond to my home. Fortunately, I didn't need it. Something to think about. I just got back from 10 days in Hawaii and the system worked just fine. No burglars, fortunately. But I could watch my great neighbor shovel my walks and driveway and I saw the mail carrier delivering the mail. They were supposed to hold the mail, but that didn't work. I contacted my neighbor and asked him to bring the mail inside. Between Ring and my neighbor, we were able to have a relaxing vacation! I had priced a commercial security company and got a quote on a professionally installed and monitored system. I think a few years ago a commercial system would have been the best decision, but this DIY technology is fine for my purposes. It's 'ready for prime time.' I like the fact that I can pay for professional monitoring as I need it. But, after my recent experience, I don't think I need it. At least not now. I was online everywhere I was on vacation so I received all the motion alerts and could respond as necessary. There were several erroneous motion alerts, and I turned down the sensitivity and re-set some of the detection areas. I'm getting the system 'dialed in.' Read more

I purchased this after having xfinity Home for 6 years. I got tired of them raising my rates and playing with contracts. I love the new Ring system. I also purchased a peephole cam and interior camera. The system is VERY easy to install. I can't believe Comcast forces a $99 install fee for their similar system to install. Everything worked as it should out of the box. The door sensors are a little larger than most but they have some give on spacing and didn't have any problems. The system itself let's you setup multiple users. I have it notify me on my phone each time my door opens and closes but this can be enabled/disabled. There are no rules options as far as I can see like I had with my last provider (i.e. Automatic arm the system at X time in case I forgot). Very excited about the $10/month price tag. I purchased some cheap smart bulbs on Amazon and have Ring patched in with them via Alexa. So in the middle of the night if my entry door open, I have the kitchen lights turn on blue for a few minutes. Early in the morning when the motion detector detects motion, the kitchen lights turn on white dim until the front door opens and I leave for work. When someone comes home during the day and disarms the alarm, my kitchen lights turn on and turn off after 30 minutes of no motion. This is all custom settings but using the Ring alarm sensors to trigger Alexa rules. Very hdlpful. Love this system. Read more
