Clean light medium roast, lacks body

This coffee touts an impressive pedigree and high standards of production. It has a pleasant light aroma that is slightly ashy. I made 2 scoops with 12 ounces of water in my single serving coffee press and the coffee came out smooth and with a medium brown color. I added my usual 2/3 cup frothed milk mixture and gave it a try. I found the initial flavor to be a little nutty and sweet with hints of acidity. I did feel that for a medium roast this coffee lacked some depth. I expect a medium roast to have some darker slightly more oily body to it and this coffee had a light woody body and none of the deeper tones I expect to round out a medium roast. I might even characterize this as a medium light roast but it lacks the floral or fruity notes of light roast as well. I do like this coffee but I would not seek out this particular bean again. For now I'm blending it with a darker roast to balance the 2 out and it's been more enjoyable this way. Read more

A good cup of coffee

It comes in a medium‑roast blend. When brewed with an espresso machine, it surprisingly produced a generous crema, which is a pleasant surprise for a roast of this level. The body is light to medium, and the overall profile feels soft and easy on the palate rather than bold or complex. Flavor-wise, the most prominent notes I detected were caramel and vanilla. While the packaging lists cocoa as part of the aroma profile, it doesn’t translate into a noticeable chocolate flavor in the cup. The sweetness from the caramel and vanilla balances the mild acidity, but there’s little depth or lingering spice to give the brew a distinct character. In practice, this blend works best for those who prefer a lighter roast or a quiet, everyday cup. It’s easy to brew, delivers a satisfying crema, and its soft profile makes it suitable for quick morning drinks or as a base for espresso‑style drinks. Read more

Mellow

This coffee is super smooth and mellow. For me it is a little too mellow in that it lacks much punch or depth. I feel like the medium roast description is fair. But this is more likely to appeal to lighter roast lovers more than dark roast fans. It produced a surprising (for the roast level) amount of crema from the Aeropress. There are a lot of flavors listed on the bag and I would say I only get the caramel, vanilla. Maybe the cocoa in the aroma of the beans but not in the cup. I previously tried Ritual's "Intense Body, Upper Medium Roast 85+ SCA Score", https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FQQXJWZG. Although it was too tart for my tastes I could appreciate the quality of the preparation there as well. After the other Ritual coffee, this is the 2nd SCA-rated coffee I've had. Even though I didn't care for the much more tart Intense variety, I could appreciate that there are people who prefer that flavor profile and would find in a superior cup. But with this Smooth & Rich variety I don't really find anything very distinguishing. So even though I like it better than the Intense, I don't think it's a great value. It's still a good cup it's just not special. Read more

Perfect morning brew every time

This bag of coffee was really nice, I've thoroughly enjoyed brewing a cup of this every morning. The beans gave off a rich aroma of caramel and cocoa, they were really fresh and roasted perfectly. I grind the beans fresh every morning, and this roast delivered a smooth, balanced cup with just the right amount of acidity that I like. I've tried it as a pour-over and in my french press, and both methods bring out the vanilla and hazelnut notes beautifully. The beans are consistently high-quality, and I love knowing that they're sourced from a single origin. Read more

Not As Robust As I Expected

This single origin coffee comes in a resealable bag which opens with a handy pull-tab. When I opened the bag, there was an aroma of coffee that was not as strong as I am used to from other medium-roast coffee beans. The beans were light brown in color, and not oily. The beans ground easily and did not leave large pieces. I prepared a cup of coffee at my usual ratio of two tablespoons per six ounces, and the resulting brew was a light-medium roast that was not as deep in color or flavor as I expected from the high coffee grade. I did discern some flavor notes of caramel and something vaguely fruity. There was not any bitterness, and the coffee tasted fresh and smooth, if somewhat weaker than I am used to. The coffee was enhanced by the addition of non-dairy milk. I appreciate the single origin, and the specialty designation of 84 points by the Specialty Coffee Association. However, I do prefer darker roast, and will have to try one of the other varieties if I order from this company again. The price is high for the quantity provided. The Best By Date on the bag I received is 4/11/2026, which is one year after the manufacture date. Read more

Great

The beans have a clean aroma and produce a smooth, balanced cup when brewed. Acidity is moderate, with subtle sweetness rather than sharp brightness. Freshness was good upon opening, and grind consistency was even. This coffee is well suited for daily drinking rather than experimental brewing. Read more

Great

This feels like “nice coffee shop at home” coffee. The flavor is smooth and balanced with that richer, slightly chocolatey vibe, and it doesn’t taste harsh or burnt. Since it’s whole bean, it stays fresher longer, but you’ll want a grinder to get the best results. If you like lighter, fruity, tea-like coffee, this might feel a little too classic and roasty. Well balanced and the aroma is wonderful

The Ritual’s Colombian Single Origin coffee is really smooth and easy to drink. The beans smell amazing in the bag, and once brewed, I get that nice mix of caramel, vanilla, and a little cocoa without it feeling flavored or artificial. It’s just a naturally rich, balanced cup. The medium roast is bold enough for a great morning cup and it’s not harsh or bitter. It works great in a drip machine and even better in a pour‑over. Overall, it’s a solid everyday coffee with a clean, comforting flavor profile that feels gourmet without being fussy. Read more
