I bought the Sony BDP-S1700U Blu-ray player and this remote came up as an optional purchase. An extra remote for just $6 ? Added to cart. Compared to the remote that came with the player, this remote has an almost identical layout. Popped the batteries in, and the player immediately responded to it. As others have mentioned, the buttons are a bit stiffer than on the Sony remote, yet they operate the player without issue. I didn't mess with attempting to set this up to control my TV since I don't need that functionality (this remote comes with no instructions, but the manual for the player has instructions for this). As I tend to use my media player remotes a lot, it's great to have an inexpensive spare at the ready. :) Read more
