I have used Roaring Spring legal pads with extra strong back. Those pads had at least 80 point thick backing. Looking on Amazon to purchase the same product again, it seemed that they were only available in cartons of 36 pads. I saw this product, and it was sold as Extra Heavy back, so since it was Roaring Spring I figured it might be an equivalent product. The stiffest back possible is very important to me, as I often use a legal pad while sitting in a chair. These pads have a back equivalent to something you could pick-up at a drugstore or grocery. You simply cannot use it in your lap. The paper is fine, and it tears well, but the pads are worthless to me. I don’t know how 50-point and 80-point is measured, but using a stainless steel ruler with markings to the end, I very carefully measured, and the back of these pads are one-half the thickness of the other Roaring Spring pads that I’ve had.
