Rockland Rolling Duffel Bag Black 22

Great for carry-on I purchased this Rockland 22" duffel bag with wheels because I have had a good experience with them. My previous Rockland 22" duffel bags were purchased elsewhere in 2015. The bag was carried on and fit in the overhead bin of the plane perfectly. I like to travel with Delta and use them as our carry-on with no issues. I did check it a few times due to the amount of luggage I had, and it held up to the flight with no problem. It’s a durable bag. I do like the two front pockets on it too because you can put extra stuff in it like you’re charging cords, earphones, and things you want to get too quickly. I can pack enough clothes, toiletries, a swimsuit, and flip-flops for a seven-day trip in the bag. I have larger suitcases, but for the price of checking bags ($35.00), purchasing this one made my trip easy by not needing to check a bag. The wheels are strong and held up well. IF you are trying to run, your bag may wobble unless it is complete and balanced. I also looked at many different bags like this, but many of them didn’t have the shoulder strap I like. Sometimes when I’m in a hurry to get a flight, I just put it over my shoulders like a duffel bag, and I can move faster. Then there are two strong handles so you can carry it upright, the same way a shoulder stat would. Plus, there’s an additional handle, so you can grab it quickly when you first put the bag on the wheels. That might seem like a little thing, but it matters to me if you’re trying to make a flight. Otherwise, pulling them around has not been an issue. I have, however, noticed the wheels on this new bag are just as strong as the ones on the new bag as the ones I had previously. I like the strong wheels because it doesn't fall over when you’re trying to move quickly. The zipper is robust and durable. Furthermore, I didn’t have to worry about it popping open as I traveled. I like the handle too. It’s powerful and it’s extendable when I fly. I want to put the handle in and zip it up so it’s not sticking out of the overhead bin. After many flights across the country, it has lasted for about 10 years. Plus, on several car trips around the states, the inside material of the bag was starting to shed little pieces. I probably would have used them a few more times, but the last time I checked, they opened up the handle, pulled it out, and lifted it with the handle. In the end, it wouldn’t go back in anymore. I think 10 years is a long time for a piece of luggage to last if you use it a lot. Finally, there were little pieces that were falling off the inside of the bag, and it was just starting to happen, but it was my last trip with this bag. Read more

My collection is complete. I bought the owl suitcase and bag set. Then the 19" duffel bag and finally this 22 inch rolling duffel. I think I like this the best! It's nice and big with plenty of pockets. The handle can be hidden away or pulled up and locked if you want to roll it. I don't usually roll my duffels. I have the hubby haul my stuff out to the car . We are big road trippers and I over pack like crazy. This duffel will definitely fit what I need for a few days or more along with the bag that came with the luggage or the smaller duffel. Who knows, maybe I will pack all the pieces! The material is rip stop but doesn't seem super heavy duty and could possibly tear if it comes in contact with something very sharp. I had no trouble with the wheels when I tried the duffel with some stuff in it to see how they would work. The zippers all work fine and I like the spacious interior. This isn't the best quality but it is affordable, cute, and will do the job for me for sure. If I have any issues after next moth when I journey to the mountains with this piece (and others), I will update and rerate. Right now, I am going with 4 stars because I haven't had enough experience to say how sturdy it really is and how long it will last. Super cute though and appears well made. Read more

I purchased this duffle for a trip to a national park. We were flying to our destination and then tent camping in multiple campgrounds. This duffle worked well for the flight because of the handle and wheels. I did not have any issues with the duffle tipping over while pulling it. I was worried that I might be asked to gate check it, but that didn't happen. It fit into the overhead compartments just fine. For the camping, the duffle worked great! I could stow it in the mini van we rented and easily have access to all my clothes through the wide top opening of the duffle. It made it easy to stay organized. It was a 10 day trip. The duffle fit all of the stuff I needed to take, including hiking boots, camp shoes, rain gear, etc. I used a daypack as my personal item. On the return trip home, there was still room in the duffle for the souvenirs I bought. I did notice one small scrape on the bag that must have happened while I was using it. It is a canvas-type bag, so it can suffer some rips as opposed to a hard sided suitcase. But for my purposes, and for the very reasonable price, I think this bag will hold up fine on plenty more trips. Read more
