Freezing tray with 2-3 oz capacity

CustomerJanuary 24, 2026

This is a review of the Rolled Ice Cream Maker Kit - DIY Instant Ice Cream. I had no idea what to expect from this product! It is a new concept to me, so I was surprised that it actually works. This is a small, shallow stainless steel pan on top of a container of liquid that freezes. You put it in the freezer for 8 to 12 hours, after which you pour a few ounces of your ice cream concoction into the pan. You are supposed to stir it with one of the two plastic paddles that are provided. After a short time, your treat freezes and you can scrape it into a dish. I found that the tray holds at most 3 ounces, which isn't much. Two ounces avoids it splashing out. You can see in the photo that shows 2 ounces compared to a cherry tomato and a teaspoon ... it's a couple of bites. But, it's cold! Recipes were not included. I tried plain water to see if it worked, and that froze solid like an ice rink. I couldn't scrape it up. I tried half-and-half, which worked better. It froze to a soft consistency. It did not require being put back in the freezer ... I did this on the counter at 70 dF. This could be a fun activity for a child. I kind of like it to satisfy that occasional urge for a cold treat. Other uses for this might be a cold base for butter sculpting or making cake decorations from frosting. It is certainly easy to use. It has no moving parts and does not require electricity. It appears to be good quality and durable. I might not buy this again because it is so small. I wouldn't gift it for the same reason. But, if you only want 2 ounces of frozen treat, this would do the job. It will definitely do the job for molding butter pats or frosting flowers. Read more

Simple concept, Small is very small

D. M. BeanJanuary 24, 2026

The media could not be loaded. So, you keep this in a bag upside down in your freezer and it’s ready when you are. My main reason for ordering it was to freeze yogurt. I love yogurt (regular or Greek) when it’s slightly frozen, but that requires remembering to place it in the freezer before I want to eat it, but not too long before, or it will freeze solid. This tool does what I hoped it would. Spread the yogurt on the tray, give it a few seconds, then scrape and flip. I’ve included a video of my first time using it. I realized that I should have spread it out more and waited longer for it to start freezing before scraping it around, but it still turned out delicious. The tray stayed cold enough for me to do 2 yogurt cups (1 at a time). Then I washed it, dried it, and placed it back in the freezer. I have not done anything more liquid than the yogurt, like cream or juice, but I suppose that would do okay, it would probably be slushy. Overall it seems a decent quality. There was a tiny dent in my tray when I received it, but it does not affect its performance, and it doesn’t feel weak or flimsy. It is more than just a piece of steel, there is some type of fluid inside, which is why it is stored upside down in the freezer. Now, keep in mind how you would intend to use this, because size may matter. I have the small, which is quite small. It works fine for one yogurt cup at a time, but that’s about all. The dimensions given in the listing photo include the white frame of the tray. The actual steel freezing portion is only about 7.5” x 5.5”. For reference, that won’t even fit 2 smartphones. Very small area for freezing. Because of this, I think it is overpriced. At the time of this review, the small is $27 and the large is $37. The large is only 2 inches longer and wider, so it still isn’t very “large”. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that the packaging and instructions refer to the use of this as an “ice frying machine” which we find hysterical. Just when you think you’ve seen all of the comical translations to English, you get ice frying. Anyway, it mostly does what it claims, but it is a pretty simple concept. I’ve deducted a star because it is overpriced. I’ve included a video, some photos of the finished product and actual measurements. The video is rather long, and the scraper in my left hand gets in the way a few times, but you’ll get the gist of how it worked for me and what I could do to improve the results. Hope that is helpful. Read more

Fun, Simple Way to Make Rolled Ice Cream at Home

TxTroyJanuary 12, 2026

I picked this rolled ice cream maker mostly out of curiosity and ended up enjoying it more than I expected. The process is straightforward: freeze the tray, pour in your ice cream or yogurt base, and use the scrapers to roll it once it firms up. It doesn’t take long, and it’s surprisingly satisfying to see the rolls come together. The tray holds its cold well enough to make a few servings before needing to go back in the freezer, and the included scrapers work just fine for shaping the rolls. Cleanup is easy—everything rinses off quickly, which makes it more likely I’ll actually use it again rather than letting it sit in a cabinet. I’ve tried a few different bases and mix-ins, and it’s been a fun way to experiment with flavors without needing any special equipment. Overall, it’s a simple, enjoyable tool for making rolled ice cream at home, and it does exactly what it’s supposed to do. Read more

Perfect Activity for an 11-Year-Old’s Birthday Party

M GrantJanuary 11, 2026

This rolled ice cream maker kit was small but perfect for my 11-year-old’s birthday party. We picked up her favorite candy to mix in, and it made the whole experience really fun and interactive. The freeze tray worked as expected, and the kids loved watching the ice cream come together. My husband even wore a chef jacket to make it extra special, and she absolutely loved it. It was easy to use, didn’t take up much space, and made a great hands-on party activity. A fun, memorable option for birthdays when you want something different and engaging for kids. Read more
