Been manually sharpening my knives for years but decided to try this out as a faster, easier method that my fiancee could also use. It has been working like a charm! Only thing I've noticed is at times the size and dimensions of the platform are as conducive to different blade types. This more for smaller filet or steak sized knives. Just received in the mail; opened and used with large Japanese nakiri knife. Immediately noticed that the magnets on the block that holds the knives at 4 different angles is NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO KEEP THE KNIFE STATIONARY. However, I did try sharpening and thus far it appears to have produced a good edge . . . BUT, I AM HIGHLY SUSPECT of the weakness of the magnets in the knife-holding block. I bought this one - after returning a very poorly performing one - because one of the description panels in the website stated that the magnets in the base are VERY STRONG - does not appear to be the case, but I’ll test it further before a final decision . . . Stay tuned for more! UPDATE: Well, I have used this sharpener on my 3 most frequently-used knives and am pleased! I did mention in the initial post that I was unsure of the magnets . . . I still am, to a degree (they are not as strong as I’d hoped but they certainly perform well enough. I must report that I am pleased with the overall results & quality of the Agrilla rolling sharpener! Have not yet reached the knife edges that will slice paper thin tomato slices but certainly believe we’re getting there! I have not checked but do hope I can find other grade sharpening discs for this unit. Find it difficult to do tall knives, but with a little bit of work playing around, I was able to get a pretty good edge on my knives, but it does take a little bit of practice. I would almost recommend starting with a cheap knife. Read more

It works great and does sharpen your knives. But using a whetstone is more traditional and really does help you understand what you want while doing it. Using a strop helps a lot after you are done. Only thing I’m wondering is, can you order replacement stones? Read more
