Got this as part of my prep for the winter storm “Fern”. We live in central TX and got both freezing rain as well as sleet/snow. We kept our livestock in the barn, but had to walk to the barn twice a day to muck stalls and make sure the animals had hay and water as well as feed. This balaclava was perfect! It was so warm and cozy - the perfect foil for all the freezing cold wind. It is well made, generous in size, has pull strings to tighten around the face so you can adjust and the part that covers your nose is easy to push down as well if needed. My new balaclava is warm and soft and I really love it. Even in the wind, it stays around my face because it has ties to tighten it but I wouldn't recommend it for being in the rain and wet snow. The fabric is plushy fleece. It's perfect for sleeping in the tent and cabin to keep head and neck warm, though, on cold winter nights. The neck part, the gaiter, tucks easily into the top of my sweaters, too, for keeping out the cold. I like mine. The nose covering part doesn't cover the nose, though it does cover the mouth well. This is a good product. It keeps my head warm outside, blocks the wind pretty good, and doesn't Gert too hot indoors. It is comfortable, and should work well for my purposes. It fits well, not too loose, and not too snug. One thing I should mention that the female model in the photographs must be rather petite with a small head. So warm even in negative temperatures!!! I live in NYS and this winter has been CRAZY. Unfortunately, I lost my earmuffs and held off getting new ones because I was sure I’d find them. Nope. So I saw this and it looked warm and the reviews were glowing, and the new earmuffs I did finally order would be much longer to receive. I got this ski mask in the purple color and was able to test it out immediately, since nearly everyday is freezing cold. I was shocked at how warm it actually was. I honestly thought I would need to have earmuffs under it, to protect my ears because it didn’t seem that thick. Man was I wrong. My ears couldn’t feel anything but heat. It covers my face so well even in all the high winds we’ve been experiencing. I felt like I was in a sauna when I used it while I was digging my car out after we got about a foot of snow here, and I was literally sweating. But I was never cold. My head and face did better than my hands. Now if I could find gloves like this I’d be golden. I look like Grimace the McDonald’s character, but I’m not freezing so I don’t mind. It fit comfortably under all my coats no matter the style. I paired it with my Baerskin tactical hoodie/jacket and I felt like I was indoors still, except for my hands of course.
