Where I live, 105°-120° is average temp for 4 months of the year. Normal slacks, dockers, jeans are just too heavy and dense, and you end up with swamp a** and sweaty legs, even with the humidity in the 5%-10% range. Just unpleasant, and too hot. Shorts are much better, but I'd rather not wear them in a business environment. The best I've found for this weather are lightweight cotton\linen pants. Being that these are neither cotton, nor linen, I took a chance with these...and I'm VERY glad I did! They are very lightweight material and allow for considerable air circulation and heat dissipation (which is a godsend in this climate!), and the cut is like a nice pair of modern slacks (a more tapered, semi-slim cut, not baggy, which I prefer ). Under a Cuban-cut button down shirt, they look like nice linen slacks! I've washed them several times so far, and haven't noticed any negative changes at all...still soft, light, airy and comfortable as when I first got them, and no shrinkage that I could detect. I dry them on delicate and they come out pretty much ready-to-wear, and if I really want them completely smooth a clothes steamer brings them to almost a "just pressed" Appearance. The front creases have mellowed a bit, and I'll probably have to break out the steam iron soon to bring them back to razor sharp, but I'm in no hurry as they look great either way. Large fit me perfectly (6ft, 34 waist) both waist and inseam. The elastic is a really nice touch, and I don't have to worry about these not fitting if I gain a few lbs. I do wear a belt with these, but it's more a habit than a need. If I had ONE complaint...it would be the single back pocket, as it's the opposite side of where I usually keep my wallet. I wish there were 2 back pockets, but that's far from a deal breaker for me, given everything positive about these. The side pockets are not too deep, not too shallow...perfect. They are a EXCELLENT value for the money, the quality of the material is perfect for hot weather, the fit and cut suits me perfectly, and I actually just ordered another pair this morning! Buy buy buy! My husband works as a non-emergent EMT and also works in a kitchen part time so these pants are perfect for him! They’re super breathable and not too tight. They look exactly like the picture and have withstood better in these last couple days he has had them than other black dress looking pants he has owned for months.
