I got these for my brother who is involved in historical re-enactment. He was wearing his sweat pants, hikes up to his knees, to simulate the effect of knee breeches, so an actual pair of appropriate pants was welcome. We were a little afraid they wouldn't fit, as he generally buys an XXXL and these were only available up to XXL, but they do fit him. He says they are a little snug, but not unwearable. So I'd say they run true to size to a bit oversize, which is fine with something like this. I checked over the material before handing them over to him to make sure it met my standards as a retired historical costumer. It's a fairly thick cotton, a little coarse to the hand, but sturdy feeling. The stitching was well done with no loose threads. He wore them to his fencing practice and said they were great for that, and I expect if he didn't rip them fencing they're going to hold up for a while. They are 100% cotton, so they're likely to shrink if not washed with care. I instructed him to wash his on cold and hang them to dry so avoid having them shrink enough he can't wear them anymore. I knew I enjoyed wearing pirate gear to the Ren Faire and at Halloween, but I wasn't so sure I'd love the garb for wearing to work. Now I know: pirate pants rock. These are--no kidding--the coolest, most comfortable pair of work pants. They actually look good with and without tights underneath, with this comfortable "lagen-look"-vibe. Multiple people have asked me where to get some--all women. I imagine they would work just as well in a yoga or dance class as they do for daily wear, and, obviously, they'd work for an historical cosplay. I am 5'2", 125 pounds and usually wear a US women's medium, and the Medium in these pants fits well, just a little longer than the picture. The elastic cuffs are also a little bit looser than pictured, because I don't have large calves (although I have worn these over knee-high boots). The pockets and leg seams all hit at an appropriate place, and I can put my hands in my pockets comfortably. The waistband is also comfortable, and tight enough not to slip down. The cotton is thick and not see-through, and washes and dries in my machines without issue. Because the cotton has a natural wrinkled look to it anyway, I don't worry about ironing these. I didn't expect this to be so lightweight. Like, this could be great on a hot day. Gives you plenty of ventilation! I suppose that means the fabric is light weight and this probably will wear quickly. Yeah, may not last forever. But should hold up through the occasions in which I can wear it without looking the fool. It looks pretty rad. I'm not fashion expert from the 1700s but I think I could use this any time I need to look ... different. The pockets are good, elastic helps it fit well. I do wish it had belt loops for when the elastic stitches or if I have heavy things in the pockets. Fabric is very soft for a surprisingly comfortable experience. I ordered these black cosplay pants for my husband and we were both pretty happy with them. The quality feels decent and reminds me of something you might find at a Renaissance Faire booth. The fit is comfortable thanks to the elastic waist, so there’s a little flexibility with sizing. The cuffs at the shin also stretch to fit different calf sizes. They don’t have that obvious gathered elastic look, which helps the costume look a little more authentic. The pants are 100% cotton and should be washed in cold water on a gentle cycle. They also have front pockets. I know that’s not exactly period-correct, but they’re hidden fairly well. These 100% cotton poofy pants are nice for Ren Faire, cosplay, pirate, Scottish Fest, or just a hot day when you want cool pantaloons - with huge pockets! The black is great, they look like they will fade well to a grey. I'm going to order another pair in brown, I love the look with good moccasins or high boots. These pirate pants are perfect pants for a Renaissance Festival or costume party. The stitching is well done, and I really like that they have two front cutaway pockets that are 10 1/2" deep. I ordered the XL size based on the sizing guide and the fit is perfect. They are 100% cotton, lightweight, and breathable without being see-through. The waistband has a 1 5/8" wide elastic band measuring 35.5" unstretched and 45" when fully stretched, making them comfortable with a flexible fit. The overall length is 31 1/8". The soft stretchy 2 1/4" wide band at the bottom of each leg is about 16 1/2" around and creates a nice bloused effect just below the knee.
