This is a medieval Viking or knight lace-up tunic, or a Renaissance pirate shirt, or a, um… look, it’s an old-style tunic that everyone wore from the Middle Ages through the 1700s. It is great for cosplay or Renaissance Faires or office work. Even the material is authentic—100% cotton—a nice change from the artificial fibers of most LARP costumes. It is made in China. The shirt is fully hemmed and well sewn. Laundry symbols on the tag are machine wash cold, gentle cycle; do not soak, bleach, or dry-clean; tumble dry low. The clothing tag also has a QR code, which does not connect to anything. This is a unisex sleeveless tunic, with an embroidered border around the neck and arm openings. The “pictures” on the embroidery almost look like figures or symbols, but may be just abstract sewings (photo). There is no size chart on the product page, so I ordered 2XL. I normally wear XL for my 47-inch chest, but I wanted to be able to wear a shirt under the tunic. Without a shirt, the tunic is a bit loose, but is still wearable and comfortable. It feels good. The tunic drops to mid-thigh. It fits about the same with a T-shirt or thin shirt. A thick shirt requires more maneuvering—the tunic bunches at the back and armpits—but it fits well when pulled down. So, this is ideal wear for greeting m’lords and m’ladies, for storming ships, or tackling paperwork. Sprinkle in a few, “Avaunt thee, knave,” and your co-workers may give you more space to finish your project. Read more

I got this for my boyfriend, who usually wears a large, sometimes XL depending on the shoulders. We went with a large, and it fit him, though it’s almost a little big. The sleeves flare out slightly, so I wonder if sizing down might have been better. Overall, I’d say don’t size up, stick with your normal size. The fit and shape are a little different than what the pictures online suggest. The shoulders don’t really hold their shape or stick out; they lay flat, which changes the look a bit. It also doesn’t come with a belt, so it’s just a straight, boxy piece that’s quite long, mid-thigh on him at least. The v-neck with the crisscross detail also didn’t work quite as expected. It isn’t as deep as shown, and it doesn’t really adjust, so it’s a little less flattering than I hoped. The color, olive, is fine, and the piece is decent overall, but it does feel a little cheaper than expected based on the photos. With some styling and effort, it could definitely look nice, so I could see it being a four-star outfit if dressed up. On its own, I’d give it three stars. It’s wearable, but it doesn’t fully live up to the online images or expectations. Read more

The shirt arrived quickly and was packaged in a plastic bag in an Amazon envelope. I ordered the “Army Green” shirt and the color is not the same as the Amazon product page pictures. It is a much browner color, to the point that I am not sure they did not send the “Brown” color by mistake. It does have a bit of greenish in it, but much more brown than green. Look at my pictures and you decide. The shirt fabric is cotton and the tag states that it is a 100% cotton. The lacing is the same material as the shirt. The fabric is a rougher weave, that is not harsh, but certainly not soft. It’s appearance actually looks a bit rough, but the look does fit the time period they are duplicating. The inside of the shirt is also rougher, but as you typically would be wearing a shirt underneath it, I don’t see this as much of an issue. The decoration pieces around the collar and sleeves are a thicker fabric-style ribbon. They make the collar and sleeves a little stiff, but are not too bad. The trim is sewn onto the shirt, so it will last. The shirt has a sturdy feel that make me thinks it will last for several seasons, as it is decent quality. The seams are well sewed and the basic structure is sound. The weight of the fabric is a nice light weight cotton that breathes nicely. It is not stiff, even fresh out of the package, and there was no odor out of the packaging. I typically dry my shirts in the dryer until they are damp, then hang them up to help with wrinkles. The pictures with me wearing the shirt are after I dried it this way and hanging until dry. No ironing was done. As you can see, it came out without wrinkles. This is a good shirt and I am very happy with the quality of it. I am about 5’10” tall and weigh about 210. I would normally wear a size XL shirt except that I have large shoulders that many times do not fit in a XL size shirt, so I typically get XXL. I did order the shirt as an XXL. It fits me very well, both in the shoulders and the rest of my torso. I don’t like overly tight clothes anyway and an XL may have fit initially, but would have probably been too tight for me after washing cycles, as cotton does tend to shrink. I do think this actually is sized about right, but please remember that cotton does shrink with washing and drying. Overall, I really like the shirt and feel like it is good quality. The shirt does look good for a period shirt. Unfortunately, the color is not really what I wanted and does not look like the product page picture. Not sure if they sent the wrong one or the product pictures are a little off. The color is the only reason that I am rating this a 4-star item instead of a 5-star item. Read more

The Runcati Renaissance Pirate Shirt is a fantastic piece for anyone interested in Renaissance fairs, cosplay, LARP, or themed Halloween costumes. The sleeveless tunic design is both authentic looking and practical, especially for warmer weather or indoor events. The lace-up front detail adds a genuine medieval flair, setting it apart from simpler costume shirts. The fabric is surprisingly breathable and soft, yet durable enough to withstand active use during events. I found the fit to be true to size, with enough room to layer underneath if needed without feeling bulky. The army green color is rich and earthy, making it easy to pair with a variety of pants or accessories to complete a pirate or knight look. Small details make the difference. I received numerous compliments on the shirt’s authenticity and comfort — it strikes a great balance between style and wearability. For anyone looking to invest in a quality medieval shirt, this one is definitely worth considering. Read more
